Week 23 - 2020-21 Discussion

Great game to watch but Welly have had their chances over the course of the season to wrap up a top six spot, and they had their chances today. Can’t really blame anyone else but themselves for missing out.

And how good was VAR staying out of it as well?

Penalty could have been wiped out, a few of the non-calls could have been given, but those five minutes where they loop the same three seconds from different angles at increasingly slower speeds would have wiped the fun out of the game and still left one team feeling aggrieved by the eventual decision.

Looks like FC fans have to back the NorWesters against the Roar who are a threat to 2nd place

Anyone who complains about the aleague not being exciting is a moron.
Fuck watching some stale bullshit from Europe with teams owned by oil barons.
This shit is out of control.

Robinson throwing his players under the bus with that
pre match interview!

The A-League will always be more entertaining and authentic than any of the big leagues. The eurosnobs are missing out.

Yeah, amazing that he can come in for the last 2 months of a season and be able to build a good team, but have a pre season plus full season and have no control.

Um…go Wanderers?
Hmmm, yeah, don’t like that.

Imagine if Wanderers beat Roar here to guarantee we finish above them only for Mariners to steal 2nd, then the Wanderers sneak into 6th (Chances still slim, but possible.) and we have to play them in 3 vs. 6.

Actually, don’t imagine that.
It’s a horrid thought. Only the media would love it.
Forgot I said it.

The A League should just use your quote for next years marketing campaign. Shits all over “Its football, but not as you know it”

Even with this result, assuming it holds, the chances of 37 points being enough is very slim and requires all of the other results to go exactly their way.

  • Western Sydney must win in Adelaide
  • Western United must beat Macarthur.
  • Macarthur and Wellington must draw.
  • Perth must drop at least two points against Brisbane (A) and Newcastle (H). If they drop exactly two points then WSW must achieve a better goal difference in Adelaide, or equal goal difference but more goals scored, than Perth manages over the two games.

Is the RBB still a thing or have they all downed tools for good?

Maybe they’re all in jail.

Also that distance derby shows why finals matter

This has all the hallmarks of a “heartbreaking” late equaliser.

Well, maybe not. 2-0 thanks to Kamau. It helps us to take out a potential rival for second, though.

Weird seeing Kamau get so many.

We should smack Brisbane if we repeat the Adelaide performance, they’ve been poor.

That second gives WSW a GD advantage over Perth, which could be very relevant if Perth only gets a draw in Brisbane. At 1-0 they were tied on GD and goals scored.

Hopefully Newcastle can get a draw against Mariners then we might be able to rest Brattan as he is on 7 yellows
