Western Sydney Wanderers Thread- Cosplay Ultras Edition

I reckon it’s a smoke screen. They know that the new team will be looking to poach players. What better way to stop them losing players, than to pretend they’re all completely shit… I mean there’s no other way they can be this bad can they?

I don’t think the Wests players are pretending to be shit, they are quite shit…except maybe a handful and out of that handful I’d only say Schwegler and Duke are playing well this season.

I miss Malone, he was funny.

It would be interesting to see them lose another 5 on the trot!

When ya analyse the 3 they won, they we’re fortunate.

Game 1 V CcMariners could easily been a draw

Game2 V Tards was a mistake for the Meier goal

Game 3,well everyone on Earth knows they had the biggest Bus and didn’t deserve even a point.

Next two games for them are WU, then Adelaide. Both those teams should be able to get 3 points against WSW so the winless streak should continue. They face Brisbane, then Pheonix and CCM after that and they’ll still likely come out of those games with a draw or two but might snatch a win if they’re lucky. That leads into them playing us again, and based on the form of both teams at the moment I can see that being devastating for them.

The more results for them the better in the short term. Want Babbel to stay as long as possible.

Babbel gone as soon as possible, new coach comes in with a season already ruined and players who will not gel under his system. Next season they will struggle, miss the six but fans will use the excuse “They’re not his players, this season is a rebuild” and then when they ARE all his players and still suck, new coach sacked mid-season.

This is the Western Sydney Wanderers coaching structure playbook.

screw that, I want Babel at least another 2-3 weeks. Give him a chance to re-sign some players for the next two years before he goes

3 average seasons going on 4.

1 win in 9 games after a promising start.

The poor form of NWSW claims another victim, the poor dears can’t handle it

It’s no secret Bozza is a NWSW fanboy but he really declares himself their most passionate fan here. He is hurting and badly.

Former Socceroo Mark Bosnich has absolutely lambasted the collective efforts of the Western Sydney Wanderers after a dismal 2-1 home defeat to the Brisbane Roar.

The Wanderers led inside five minutes through captain Mitch Duke, but collapsed to a sixth loss in eight games with a lacklustre showing in front of 11,000 fans at Bankwest Stadium.

And Fox Football expert Bosnich didn’t hold back in his assessment of the home side’s showing.

“I think they were poor tonight. I was really disappointed tonight,” Bosnich said

“I know they had (Keanu) Baccus out with Olympic (Australian U-23) duty and I know (Pirmin) Schwegler was out.

“But I think overall, Brisbane were there for the taking if they really wanted it, especially when they were 1-0 up at home.”

“We just had a supporter come down here and tell us straight ‘if they expect us to pay money to buy tickets to watch that week-in-week-out, they’re delusional.’ And you know what, it’s hard to disagree with him.

“For me, too many players were again off their game, disappointing. Not enough desperation as well, when they’re 2-1 down.

“The bottom line is this: it’s easy to point the finger at one man in terms of the manager. He (Markus Babbel) will take responsibility, no doubt about it.

“But there were players out there tonight who not only let their team down and let themselves down.

“I would say to quite a few of them … if they don’t want to be here, go. They’ve got a magnificent training ground and a magnificent stadium here. They’ve got basically everything!

“When I see some people basically downing tools, and not having the desperation that I’d expect of a Western Sydney Wanderers player like we’ve seen over the years here, I find that really really disappointing. And I felt really sorry for the fans.”

Bosnich was left questioning if there was an issue inside the Wanderers squad or club.

“What is it, what’s wrong? Whatever it is, you’ve still got personal pride to play for. For me, that wasn’t good enough tonight.”

With the A-League transfer window opening on January 3, Bosnich said the Wanderers should look for reinforcements to turn around their dire run of form.

“I’d be looking to get two or three more in and to sell a couple. I don’t think they’ve got (any) other choice. They need something, a fresh spark.”

And the legendary gloveman didn’t hold back when asked which positions the side needs to strengthen.

“Everywhere. With the exception of the goalkeeper, everywhere.”

and he still finds time to blow the average keeper. amazing.

Plug, veins etc

While not overly sad at their performances, and enjoying the grim fan reaction and conspiracy theories, I think the competition as a whole at this stage needs a decently performing WSW. Not necessarily a successful one, fuck that, but definitely a decently performing one. They really need to sort their shit asap.

Decisions thru the lens of of a WSW supporter.

I’d say 6 or 7 clubs really need to sort their shit asap.

There are only 2 BIG teams in the Aleague…with occasionally well performing minnows,so fluctuations will happen and be influenced by Var, recruitment, injuries and rep call ups.

Looking forward to the next Derby, revenge will be sweet!

To be fair, we have our share of “Fold the Club” types who are looking to pin their membership card to the dirt pile that is the SFS anytime Corica’s tie isn’t on straight, but these guys take it to the next level.

The best bit is where he cites Robbie Fowler to support his “Sydney FC are cap cheats” claims as if he’s the chief salary cap auditor.

The second best bit is his complaints about kids being noisy and causing havoc near his seats. I bet he was on the “RBB are the bestest active supporterz in the world” bandwagon for the first couple of seasons and was happy to defend them with their repeated use of flares at games.

In a few years time WSW will be doing better and I’m sure old mate Keithie will be back on board and bragging about how long he has supported them for. Or perhaps he’ll be supported Macarthur instead.

So, a few things:

  1. Referees: They’re not great, but they’re not that far below the standard of referees in the top leagues. People often forget that, and will equally complain about a ref making a poor decision over their beloved EPL team. Refs make mistakes but over the course of the season they more or less even out. WSW are complaining that they’ve had a lot go against them, but there has been plenty of decisions go in their favour as well. VAR has made things worse, but that’s certainly not limited to the A League.
  2. Salary Cap: I’m amazed at how many invested fans (those who are members of clubs and contribute to fan forums for example) have a distinct lack of understanding of how the salary cap works. Literally had a discussion about this with a WSW fan a few weeks back who was convinced that we were breaching the cap but had no idea that there were concessions in place for loyalty, homegrown and scholarship players.
