Why would Staj want to take such a shit job?

They are not going to get an Arnold or Poppa who have local runs on the board and can come in with the authority to change it all around. So they will end up with another foreign coach who is going to have to clear out and learn it all, or a local coach who hasn’t either coached at A-League level or hasn’t had any actual A-League success … besides GvE.

They are kind of crocked for a while I’d reckon.

Wilkshire linked to olyroos so unlikely to take the job

If Staj wins his Asian Cup QF, against Taiwan, then he will have qualified the Philippines for the next WC here. I don’t see him leaving if that happens.

Nah, they’ll give the job full time to GvE, if he’s stupid enough he’ll take it.

Them bringing GvE in was the writing on the wall for CR.

I get the sense that the person they really need to replace is not the coach but the CEO.

Getting rid of Robinson won’t do them that much good, agree.

The funny thing is that now they are stuck part way through a season with players the prior manager has signed, some for 2 years. It will take another manager a long time to turn around, could be another season or two of shit from WSW, but the funny thing is they have perpetuated such impatience and a cycle of failure that the next manager will probably be gone if he can’t turn it around but next season. They could seriously be shit forever or for at least the next several years until they can break out of the cycle.

Don’t see an issue with this. :joy:

I disliked Robinson, and how he went about getting players to weasel their way out of existing contracts with other clubs (particularly his previous club), enough that I’m happy to see his time end in failure and ensure that he isn’t the one to turn things around; even if this means brings forward a replacement who eventually does so.

If the toxic culture at the club and behind the scenes is as true as the rumours have it be, bringing in another manager isn’t going to help their cause in the slightest. Especially with him having brought in his own players for a couple of seasons. Basically until the club sorts their shit out behind the scenes, whoever takes the job will be dealing with a poisoned chalice.

GvE being brought in a few weeks ago was the writing on the wall for Robinson, but if the club decides to hand GvE a 2-year contract, I don’t see him turning things around. The only other manager I can see them going for locally would be Ernie Merrick, but I would think he’s smart enough to not take that gamble.

I would say maybe Kenny Lowe, but I think he’s settled in Perth and not willing to uproot to the other side of the country.

Harry Kewell, you know it makes sense

GVE was bought in to assist, as a replacement for a guy who went back to the UK.

Its interesting that they continually make the wrong decisions since Poppa did a runner.

There is no way Staj will go near that cluster fuck of a club. He is heading to a World Cup, a much more desirable coaching experience. After that he will have his choices of an overseas gig at numerous women’s clubs.

He’s the worm in the apple wherever he goes.

Anyway WSW are a directionless, cultureless club with an arse covering incompetent CEO & an owner who surprisingly appears not to give a fuck. Long may it continue the dopey clowns.

I honestly can’t wait till the first loss and criticism from the RBB…

Well that will fix their cultural issues.
