India has had over 300k new covid cases a day for the last couple of days. Well over 200k a day for the previous week or so. I know they have a load of people over there but that’s just insane. Their hospitals are going to be way over capacity in a few days if they aren’t already
No to mention they already have an oxygen shortage.
It was always going to be hard to contain the virus in such a poor and highly populated country but they had done quite well up until the religious festival that was held last week

England is a bad example against opening up. Cases exploding but deaths and hospitalizations are proportionately extremely low… They’ve literally done everything they could have. Now it’s down to getting through the uptake in cases and continuing on as per pre covid
Also worth pointing out that England’s full vaccination rate is 50%. They’re not out of the woods by any means, but they’re a lot more advanced than we are.
