2022-23 SFCU Player of the Season (voting thread)

Voting for the City game is open now

Vs MV

Recent results:

Diego Caballo :racehorse: won MOTM for both matches against Brisbane and Melbourne City. His first MOTMs with the club, he became the 10th different player to win one this season, and then just the 5th player to win more than one so far.

Still time to get your votes in for the win over the other Melbourne:

More recent results: our 1–0 win over Melbourne saw Robert Mak get his 4th MOTM of the season, although it was pretty close, with only 8 votes separating him from 3rd place. For the loss to Wellington in Auckland, it was Joe Lolley again, picking up his 7th MOTM for the season.

Incredibly we almost have as many votes in for the Derby embarrassment as there were for the Wellington game, but I’m not too proud to beg for more… so please get your votes in if you haven’t already!

Result for the derby: It was (understandably) one for the subs, as Adrian Segecic took out MOTM despite only entering the field in the 84th minute. It’s the 22nd time that a sub has won MOTM, and the equal second-fewest minutes needed to win it (with Patrick Wood vs Jeonbuk, behind only Marco Tilio vs CCM).

It is his fourth MOTM for the season, having taken it out in all three Cup games.

:raised_hands: Really appreciate getting in so many votes for such a terrible performance. Keep an eye out for voting to open on Saturday night as we enter the final run-in.

No prizes for guessing the MOTM for the draw vs WU: Robert Mak got votes from all 28 voters at an average of 2.61 each (the 3rd-highest this season) to take his 5th MOTM. That’s the second-most of anyone, behind just Joe Lolley’s 7.

Thanks to everyone who voted. We’re on a slight upward tick over the past few weeks, so get yours in for the Adelaide draw before Friday:

Going to be a lot of people nominating Corica as being behind the wheel at time of infringement.

Result is in for the Good Friday draw with Adelaide: there were 4 clear stand-outs among the votes, but Max Burgess ended up on top. It’s just his second MOTM for the season, and his 8th since returning to the club.

We are just hovering around last season’s average number of votes per match (31), but the last four matches have been below that number, so we’ll end up down if we don’t turn it around. Voting for the win over Perth is still open for a few more days:
