Fucking ludicrous from Tony G to expect almost the same team to play 120 minutes last Saturday, 90 minutes Wednesday and 90 minutes tonight. Iām ropeable, honestly. Heās deadset fed the likes of Cooney-Cross to the dogs, who is coughing up the ball constantly because she has no energy left.
I donāt see Sweden dropping this lead.

Tonyās whole game plan is based on high effort plays (and vibes). Really hard to have any success that way when so many are so obviously less than 100%.
Particularly when Sweden can match in that aspect, and just play better football on top of it.

So youāre being out run and physically outmatched in midfield and the answer is van Egmond. I donāt know if the womens game has sped up dramatically or she has slowed down a heapā¦ probably a combo of the two I guessā¦ but sheās not close to able to match this level any more. She was fresh on the field and have a look at where she was for that breakaway. 20 meters back with Fowler being the one to get closest to a challenge on the scorer.
I was going to save this for after the tournament entirely but I just dont see a āgreater than the sum of their partsā dynamic in this team - and thatās what a manager is supposed to give them. I see a pretty impressive group of talented footballers hitting hot and cold streaks under Gustavsson. That to me says heās not having much of an influence on games.

It was a great clearance. Unfortunately there have been several other things happening as well.
Brisbane gets the worst of our group games, the most exciting goalless draw of a pen shootout win, and a fizzling out fizzle of a 3rd place play-off loss. At least Melbourne managed 100%!

EVE didnāt even track the midfielder after being on for three minutes. Fowler as the ten had to track back and didnāt make it, while EVE made no effort whatsoever. Typical Jets player.

Honestly, it smack of tactics of a manager that only has the confidence of a select few of the playing group. The rest are there for filler because he had to select other players, but nothing forces him to play them.
Which makes his personality towards the media and the wider public somewhat narcisstic.
