ACL2 - MD4 - Sydney FC vs Sanfrecce - Thur 7 Oct

A battle of 1st vs 2nd in the group and two teams that are surely locked in for advancing into the next round. Sydney definitely not shamed on our adventure at the new Hiroshima stadium.

I think we should have more in attendance than last game, surely Sanfrecce will be a slightly bigger drawcard than a Hong Kong Premier League team.

I promised myself over 10 years ago that if Sydney ever played Sanfrecce in a game, I would join the away bay in each match. I did just that in Hiroshima (and how good a time was that!) so I am still considering whether or not to rock up to Kogarah in away colours rather than sky blue for the first and only time in history of following Sydney FC.

With both teams looking good to get into the next stage, I feel like I am a winner whatever the result of this week’s game might be. But a Sydney win against such a big opponent would be awesome.

Sounds like the highlight of your football following career! Nice to watch your enjoyment. Sit in the away bay, how often do you get the chance? If ever there is a case for a half half jersey, this would be it.

On the game, should be good. Enjoyed the first game, hopefully at home it’ll suit us. Costa back for us? He makes such a difference in the final third.

Need some wevenge here.

Perhaps those attempt to get the bukkake chants off the ground will go better at a home game than an away game?

I think it was funnier because it was only one person doing it, it had a pathetic kind of charm.

How about another 90 minute Horto or maybe a few verses of the Juha Makela song instead?

Any chance that they could take their second/third squad considering their loss in the league?

What team do people expect us to put out? With MacArthur at home on Sunday, will we see rotation in the starting XI for either game?

Let’s hope not?

@Mr2046 any idea from the grapevine re what kind of squad Hiroshima have sent? Does losing top spot on the weekend affect things either way?

It will be the same line up as Friday.
Injuries aside, the first sub will come a little earlier this time though, maybe the 83rd minute.

Surely the smart play is to rotate heavy now - conceding we’re not going to top the group

Any win and we are top by goal difference though?

I think Uffie has showed his cards early. He will always play the strongest line up available and deal with injuries rather than fatigue.

I doubt it, the last game was Costa’s first game it was clear there were a lot of people just there for that.

We’ve played 6 games, 3 of which had zero overlap with the A-league…

More so the fact that he played the same squad in Aukland 3 days after having them play in japan (with the exception of costa) The squad looked fatigued and injuries ensued.

Im not a manager but I’d have thought rotation early in the season after that much travel would have been wise. My take is that he thinks the players should be up to it so if they’re fit. Theyll play

I have no real clue but you have to think that the focus would be on winning the last 3 J.League games, and not worrying too much about this group stage which is already all but guaranteed progression.

In fairness, it was an extra midweek game right at the start of the season, when you’re assuming the squad will be fairly fresh. In terms of ACL2 though, isn’t there a significant increase in money paid to the club for each win in the group stages? I would assume this would factor into some of the decision making.

It’s time again for ticket organising and I have managed to get 20 coming along to this game.

Interestingly (maybe for market research purposes), some of the people who came to the first game are not coming back, but they have asked about tickets for Sunday at Allianz. The location and stadium has dictated which game they want to attend.
