Smartest thing the Swans did was appeal to the 8/10 and up female crowd.
Might as well be a fashion parade the amount of talent on show.
Blowouts in AFL grand finals are so common. It’s odd how the best two teams playing can result in so many one-sided games.
I reckon in the last 10 years there’s being 3 that have been decent and close to the end (2016, 2018 and 2023).
I’m someone who has followed the sport all my life and still play it to this day, but can honestly say I look forward to the NRL grand final a lot more. Tends to deliver. (Particularly as a Penrith fan haha)
And it would grow even more if Swans kept winning Premierships.
75K members sound like a lot for a team that plays in a 48 stadium… makes me wonder if members need to reserve seats or risk missing out on home games, or whether full season members are far fewer than 75K.
Yeah, i believe they have different categories and not all get a seat but tickets are very hard to come by
Plus they have significant number of members in Melbourne, given the history.
Don’t know about now, but a good 15 years ago I remember they had 10k Melbourne-based members
But AFL clubs do inflate numbers.
The fact that GWS have 35k members highlights that.
A mate of mine is a North member. He once got a couple of guest passes for a match for a couple of his mates. They were ‘counted’ as members in the end of year tally apparently.

Just on the thread title, how is the old AFLX going?
Dead and buried
Lasted two seasons I think? I don’t think anyone thought it was a good idea.
lol
The AFL held two official Australian Football League (AFL) pre-season AFLX competitions featuring senior AFL clubs and players, in 2018 and 2019, but these were unpopular with spectators and did not return in 2020.[3]
I hear the ball chip tech being used in AFLW has been causing issues, incorrectly counting scores.
