ALM Squad Speculation Thread 2024/25 (Part 2)

In fairness it’s a pretty interesting stat considering we’ve been haemorrhaging goals for most of our other games. In fact 3 of the 5 games we’ve had a clean sheet in, he’s played CB. It’s not statistically significant, but there’s definitely a bit of a trend there.

I’d argue the trend is just that Eastern, Perth and a 10-man Melby are equally dogshit.

Guess who’s back this weekend…

Probably why Burgess has been frozen out of the squad. Refuses to pull his socks up, figuratively and physically.

My uncontrollable rage.

It left?

Some of Segacics starts were at left mid, and when you look at the heat and touch maps he was quite deep covering the left side of defense. Goal and assist output in those scenarios arent going to be great. However in those games he showed a massive workrate and real grit that probably wasnt on show in appeances from earlier seasons.

He started against Bangkok and got a goal + assist.

So basically played out of position in a mostly non-attacking role because we were shit at the time?

Put him and Costa up front and we are golden, provided we don’t make Costa do much tracking back to crock himself again.

Did you just get the internet hooked up today?

I have no idea how I missed it, definitely an instant classic.

This development does not displease me

Is this one of those situations where he’s using the media to pressure us like a Serbian maestro who shall not be named? “Very low” is subjective, especially when the salary cap is a shadow of what it used to be and transfer fees count against it…

Wait surely transfer fees dont count?? If that was the case then sales should give you more cap

I’d be happy to sign him- he’s really improving and starting to gel with the rest of the team

I wasn’t so keen on him for the first part of the season but he has really grown on me. Would like for him to be extended

I wish the forum felt the same about Wood…

That’s an interesting thought. I feel like the forum has debated this before with a lack of hard evidence either way, but I’m happy to be proven wrong if anyone can find a firm sauce defining the salary cap.

FWIW I’m not against keeping Klimala, he’s as good as we’ve had since the first version of Alfie.

Pressuring seems harsh but hes definitely putting it out there hes eager to stay. Last few years hes gone from Scotland to America to Israel to Poland to Australia. Totally get him saying a bit of stability, especially as somewhere hes been playing well, would be great.

Might also get some other clubs having a look.

Also theres some reports Alex Grant might get a Socceroos callup

AFIK, there’s the cap, with exceptions. Two marquees, a couple of designated players and the loyalty concessions. Do we still do scholarships? Or guests?

Ok but how do transfer fees count?
