ALM Squad Speculation Thread 2024/25 (Part 2)

Just watching the highlights of the Adelaide/bulls game.
How the fuck did we mess up losing Kealey Adamson?
We’re currently playing an out of form LB on the right and he is carving up for MacArthur.
Was ZDJ a nepotism signing cause of who his dad was? I don’t get it.

True, but at WU he had a falling out with Rudan (maybe unsurprising given what we know about Rudan) and he has been completely frozen out here because of the players we’ve signed. It’s a bad look for him but there are likely some half decent reasons for what has happened. I think if someone like Brisbane or Perth could offer him $150-$200k for a one year contract that might be a good bit of business for them if they can keep him motivated, I think that’s probably the best he can hope for.

Otherwise he has to pray maybe an IPL club has some money to throw at him, in which case he might make some more money but he may not want to live in India if the payday isn’t that big…

On Adamson - he had his best game in a while last night for Macarthur, he isn’t always that good, but that said he is ahead of ZDJ in every aspect of his game. I usually defend the club in letting players go and think we have often made good choices e.g. Van Der Saag, Talbot, etc, but ZDJ over Adamson is one I’ll never figure out.

He’s no relation to Ivo.

I’ve said it many times before though, I have no idea what it is that those whose opinions matter see in ZdJ.
We took him on potential over Adamson but it wasn’t obvious at the time and still isn’t now. It also overlooked the fact that we needed a RB who was ready to step in at the time rather than a couple of years down the track. We paid for it last year when Rhyno was out of form and we’re paying for it now by having to shoehorn a LB in at RB.

Adamson was absolutely honking at the start of the season (coming back from injury?) though…he does look alright at the moment though.

Adamson has made many mistakes this year including against us. Hardly someone that you would rave on about.

It’s the same thing about the obsession with Talbot when he left.

Feel like we’ve done the Kealey thing to death. He 100% should’ve been retained given he could play wildcatback on either side, proved he was up to it in NPL, and then was crucial in us winning both the semi and final of the Australia Cup (though it appears the decision to let him go was made prior).

Don’t like that we seemingly got into a bidding war and threw first team deals at totally unproven 16 years olds in Amanatidis, Glasson and De Jesus. Our academy is doing its job superbly, imo we should always be keeping our own first and let other clubs take those punts. They’re all our feeder club anyways, we can always steal them in their 20’s if they’ve already proven they’re better than ours.

Is this the same Kealey Adamson who got sent off against us last year in a finals match and got absolutely tonked by Costa and Lolley in our last game against them?

He’s definitely ahead of ZDJ due to age and while I’m not saying ZDJ will never reach his potential, a 17 year old on a 3 year deal is far more likely to improve and get a sale.

And everyone works on the assumption we let him go, perhaps he wanted to go

Max must have got spooked when he looked in the bathroom mirror in the morning & saw Vedran staring back at him.

Yeah, I think the forum should invest more time in getting to the bottom of why we let Janko go.

Why did you have to go and bring that up?

An absolute non-issue compared to the time we gave Bobo a marquee deal which pissed Adrian off and made him leave, only to flog Bobo for a fee and free that spot up 5 minutes later.

Badolato looked pretty good for the Young Socceroos at the Asian Cup. Would probably be a good Segacic replacement presuming he’s off at the end of the season.

Wasn’t Adamson on a short term contract for the Aus Cup (From Newcastle), but then couldn’t sign a permanent deal because by the time decisions were made, it was out of registration window. We needed a RB because Grant was injured(?) and had to bring someone in right away. Hence ZDJ who was a youth player and already on the books?

He couldn’t play for MacArthur until January who had room for him not playing until then.

Something like that is in my memory…

No.
He was still on his NPL contract which ran until the end of October.

He signed with Macarthur outside of the window (post AC) but because he was contracted here when it closed he couldn’t play for them until January.

ZdJ is only 2 years younger. In those 2 years since the decision was made one has gone on to become a first team regular and the other still looks out of his depth at NPL level.

Will just have to put it all down to Bimbi then.

Josh Sotirio has been named in the New Caledonian squad for their Round 3 OFC FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches 🇳🇨

They will take on Tahiti and should they be successful in that match, they will play the winner of New Zealand & Fiji for a place at the FIFA World Cup 😮🤩

Best of luck, Joshy 🙌

Congrats to Sotirio

I know its only a minor nation, but good on him. This will be his last chance of playing international football, and potentially a World Cup. He might as well take that chance.
