Another bit of raw treatment by Talay (and the club) to an absolute legend of Sydney. He deserved to exit on his own terms.
EDIT: Now very certain this was not a mutual exit.

If he was retiring theyād surely specify. Only says ādepartingā or āleavingā, indicating heās going to play on elsewhere.
If thatās the case thereās no reason he shouldnāt have had another look-in by now, in order to prove if heās up to an extension here (at what would be a significantly reduced cap hit due to loyalty bonus).
Sevenish-Beers has had the benefit of an extended run, not justified long term faith that could be well placed if Redders was retiring, and been rewarded with an extension anyways.
Farewell Redders, SFC legend. If its a case of Talay doesnt want him then it begs the question āwho gives a shit???ā
Weāre shipping off our greatest servants to keep a manager nobody wants happy?.
Gonna start warming up these vocal chords for sunday then. Itās boo time.
I expect him to find another club to play at. Heās still got a few years left in him at his age. Particularly for GKās in the AL.
Fair enough if heās not ready for retirement, but it was pretty clear he was no longer up to being #1 in a serious team that wants to be at the top of the table, irrespective of coach preferences/stubbornness about playing style.
All the best to the guy, a surprise club great, and seemed a proper good bloke.
If he is not playing for us or moving on to coaching, I hope he is going back to teaching. Thanks for the memories for club and country.
Gus not ready to be number 2, 1st choice keeper needed regardless.
Heās well away from his best, but it wasnāt that long since he was at the Socceroos. He was making mistakes, but wasnāt that bad. Really seemed to drop off start of this season when it seemed he was asked to play in a way that didnāt suit him. Sure he is still good enough to be playing elsewhere.
Wasnāt enthused when he signed but he proved me wrong and has been awesome in every aspect you could ask.
If he does play somewhere else it will be nice to welcome him back before the game, then enjoy the throw ins that follow his goal kicks, while he can benefit from being on the other end of our terrible penalty record.
Thanks, Grey Wiggle!
If he keeps playing heāll be in the NPL whilst teaching
Heās not up to the a-league and sevenish-beers have made us forget the errors he was making that lead to him being dropped
As others have said, wasnāt enthused when he signed but has done more than enough to earn legend status
Yeh with teaching + NPL heād be earning the same as being a backup, but actually playing whilst forwarding his new career.
Iād be looking at Birighitti as the Redders replacement. I know heās playing NPL right now but surely heās doing that to get match fitness ahead of the next A-League season.
Or maybe his early season drop off was just shit Talay tactics?
Not too mention that all fixtures are Sydneyish, so much less travel away from family.
I want to think itās this vaguely amicable scenario.
It would be very disappointing if next season HDM is a nailed on #1 and playing at this level, and Redders is elsewhere in the league.
I am okay with looking to upgrade on Redmayne, but I have seen nothing to believe that HDM is it.
Problem is local GK stocks are as thin as theyāve ever been and weāre shit out of foreign spots (only Klimalaās loan is up, so weāre either going to keep him or replace him). Even if Ouahim or Sena moved on weāre not going to be able to use that spot on a keeper.
Unless we pull Maty Ryan out of our arses (Arnie has his number though ) then I fear HDM will be it.
HDM has been given little to no protection from a lacklustre defence and also has to sweep to cover for a ridiculously high line. Its alot to ask.
That may be the case but his decision making is woeful and he has some worrying technical deficiencies as well, for example his seeming inability to guard his near post at all.
Move Lolley to #9, simples.
A few mistakes directly causing goals per season, a la Redmayne with the same back line, instead of a few mistakes directly causing goals per month?
I think he had a stretch of seven consecutive fixtures causing goals over the summer.

Its not leaving much squad space to improve anything.
Keeper wise we either go for Birighitti, Duncan or Ryan Scott (not judging how good they are but theres so few Aussie keepers out of contract).
Ouahim might not want to stay the second year after falling so far out but even then would you use that spot on bringing in a visa GK, CB or DM?
