ALM Squad Speculation Thread 2024/25 (Part 2)

I mean, if some random who we thought would score 15+ goals as a squad player came to us at the beginning of the season and said I’m only interested in a one year contract, take it or leave it, we’d have taken it right?

I would’ve thought near the start of the season the club would be in a stronger negotiating position. Maybe they did try and they still didn’t have that pulling power to get him to sign.

I don’t think anyone thinks a contract wasn’t offered. What we are angry about is that it wasn’t executed / completed.

We don’t know the reasons as to why, but the fact they couldn’t come up with an agreement is shit. We are allowed to be annoyed, regardless of who is at fault.

Sometimes it’s not anyone’s fault.

Exactly. Players will back themselves.
And reality is transfer fees (or lack thereof) impact the payment to the player.

Yet, not once has anyone blamed the player, every accusation, whinge and rant has been squarely directed at the club or club management. The prevailing assumption is that it MUST be the clubs fault regardless of what is or isn’t known.

He is part of the club, so that tracks.

I can’t speak for those who blame club management.

Yeah but what else are we supposed to do? Accept that real life doesn’t work like Football Manager and that everything isn’t within our control even though we desperately want the outcomes to be different??? Go through years of therapy to learn to sit with our own disappointment and enjoy things in life for what they are??? That’s not why I spend every waking minute on a football forum, thank you very much.

Burgess is running with the squad in the latest video they put on their Instagram. Which is in stark contrast to what they have been doing the last couple of months of keeping him in the basement of Sky Park.

Return of the Max?

Keeping fit for when Arnie offers him a renewal in the off season, inshallah

Sometimes it makes no sense to apportion blame when all the information you have is speculative at best.

Wrong. Someone is always to blame.

I blame you, daveee. No, I don’t have a logical reason.

Funny, I blame you!

Sydney FC will farewell club legend Andrew Redmayne ahead of this Sunday’s clash with Newcastle Jets, with the keeper set to leave the club at the end of this season.

For him to be at the club for 8 seasons and achieve all he did when plenty of us were in shock that he signed, and weren’t expecting him to play even one game, is a pretty phenomenal run.

Doesn’t sound like he’s retiring… :man_facepalming:

Surely retirement. Surely. We surely wouldn’t let him go rather than keep him as a 2… surely… please tell me I’m right surely

I thought the club was giving him a job on the staff?
