Compensation payments are made to every club a player was with from 12-21, the first time they register overseas and then again on a subsequent international transfer. The amount is a set price per year so we should get a fairly good one for players who have been with the academy the whole time, less so for someone like Shaw.
The mandatory payment for the second transfer actually goes to the previous professional club. The original club only gets a cut of the money if they sold the player with a âsell onâ clause, so we wonât get any for Sega leaving on a free, just the first time.
ahhh ok fair enough. $400k isnât the worst for Sega. Would have been nicer to get more, but still, means weâve made over $2 mill from players over the last two years if im not mistaken?
Losing JK on a free is inexcusable, but you need to use them or lose them, we did the latter. He wants first team football and heâll get it somewhere else in the league, kick arse and make the club look more stupid then it already does. Especially if he does it for the WanderLOLâs.
I wish all the players the best of course, especially Sotirio.
However I will go against the grain a bit and say that while JK scored some important goals and I liked what he offered - not sure if he was of the quality we needed/need up front. I liked his support play actually but donât think he was the second coming in his appearances.
I do think however he would have likely improved with more game time and consistency. I see him as a cut above a player like Patrick Wood but definitely a step or two down from someone like Klimala. I think he basically would have excelled as a second striker to come on later for Klimala, which seemed to happen a few times earlier in the season but we never stuck with it.
But anyway as I said all the best to all those players, really wonder where we will see JK, Redders, and Burgess next.
Sotirio will go down as one of the weirdest signings the club ever makes.
Best of luck to them, Redmayne a real club servant and a great guy for how he has handled his number two position this season without making a fuss, just getting on with it and still clearly loving being part of the team from the bench. I still remember being pissed when we signed him but damn he proved me and a lot of us wrong.
While I do feel Burgess was and is overrated by a lot of people here, he is also someone who has given us some great moments and is a rare Australian player who can really make you âOooâ with his footwork.
JK Iâm not shocked by, itâs always going to be hard for a young forward to break through at a club like ours that will be looking for instant results from a striker. He was never going to play ahead of a Klimala and/or whoever replaces him so for his own good he definitely had to move on. Fingers crossed we see big things from him in the future.
