This one is probably a long shot because you’d imagine he’d 100% want to stay in Europe, but how about Yengi? Just got released by Portsmouth. Injury history might be a concern.

I’m still clinging to the idea that the Lolley thing is a wind-up with no substance to it. I may be being overly optimistic, we’ll see.
You mean the random comment at the end of an article that had zero links to clubs apart from the absolutely obvious comment that WSW would want to sign him if he was available? Just like pretty much every single other club in the league would also love to sign him if he was available because he’s been consistently one of the top players in the league and signing him would be a boon to the club while also weakening SFC? Something tells me there’d even be a tonne of overseas clubs that would also love to sign Lolley on a free should the opportunity arise…
Yes, that’s what I’m telling myself. I’m a bit surprised at the number of people talking like it’s a done deal, here and elsewhere. No-one you’d really consider a solid source of info, of course.
We have a shit team… and our brand new stadium has shit drainage… have a look at the surface water on the field on channel 9 girls state or origin … shocking
In the interest of squad composition, I’ve looked at the impact of the proposed salary cap changes, which admittedly wouldn’t be approved by the PFA under the current CBA, but appears to possibly be the environment we are heading towards.
I have taken the estimated salaries of our squad from this ‘sportysalaries’ website, and estimated salary cap hits based on the various exemptions that are applicable. It is fair to say that the figures here are by no means reliable, so take the details with a grain of salt, but it does illustrate the predicament we are in with this squad (if cuts are required). From what I can tell, the salary cap is $2.55m, (according to Joey Lynch) and the league-wide average spend on players across all teams is $4.8m (according to the PFA, for 2023/24 season).
The APL has stated their intention for a $3.5m trial cap for the 2025/26 season (with no exemptions except for 1 marquee). Again, whether this change prevails is in doubt, but the direction that this is headed suggests that we need to make cuts. We could theoretically be spending ~$7m on players, and still be within the current ‘soft’ salary cap in place.

Segacic to Rapid Vienn reportedly
i dunno, those numbers just look really weird and pure speculation. It’s also not taking into account designated players either
Interesting if true. Might a good level for him although I was hoping for a “bigger “ league although financially it couldn’t really be much more than what he would be able to get here I’d imagine
I’m not going to sit here and try to justify that these numbers from some website are bang-on correct. I have included a column for cap-hit to show the impact of designated players to illustrate a point.
Hey thats a pretty good move for him if it pans out. Austrian league is a good starting point. Its a shame we dont get a transfer fee but apparently we would get a token ‘training’ fee or something like that. Its probably fuck all, but its something.
Quick question:
Is Glasson back next year? Or was that a loan to obligation to buy deal?
Loan only but the Finnish season runs calendar year as they’ve only played 6-7 games to date. So “season long loan” indicates he won’t return for a while yet, probably be available around when ALM starts up again (or later depending on if he has an enforced 4 week break under the CBA still to fit in).
Much obliged.
I’m pretty sure rightdirection already linked something that was to be taken with a similar grain of salt (at least some of those annual wages, I’ll give props for trying to calculate the salary hits). The wages are generally not numbers that are common knowledge, either, so its pure speculation. They’re also listing guys who have already moved mid-season, like Amanatidis. Apparently Joe Lolley is a new signing, too. Deary me.
That’d be a decent move I think
Geez you’re not wrong. I just flicked it on then. Probably lucky we don’t have a game this weekend. What a cow paddock
$400,000 is the reported fee.
Better than I thought.
Where’s that from? I thought the training fee is if he gets bought out further down the track?
