Auckland Football Club - The Football Kingz are back!

Would Foley have the second largest net worth of AL owners after the Shiekh?

Have they announced where they will be playing their home matches?

What are the options? Knights played at North Harbour and Nix sometimes play at Eden when they’re in Auckland (like right now).

I heard based on the season ticket seating map it’ll be mount smart stadium.

Ooh old school All-Whites vs Socceroos WCQ vibes!

Surely though would play the derby at Eden Park where they played us today, they shouldn’t have any trouble selling that out based on the 18k they got against us

I always thought it was a travesty that there wasnt a CBA stadium in NZ.

“Where tha knights playing too - night, bro?”
“C - B - Aye, bro”

I know its not always practical but that would probably be the ideal kind of set up for all A-League clubs. Just get the big stadium for the big game/s each season, and keep a smaller stadium for the rest of the season.

I kinda disagree. Keep the intimate venue so that you’re not saying some games are special and others are just ho hum. Your home should be your home, full stop.

If it’s hard to get tickets to the derby because the venue is small, everyone there will feel special no matter what the attendance figure says.

I tend to agree. I think a smaller stadium with regular genuine sell outs and genuine scarcity of tickets (not one of these Ticketek “sell outs” where another tranche of tickets gets released later, or one one these CommBank “sell outs” where there’s clearly whole sections of the stadium that are empty), generates a better spectacle.

If you can then build on that, maybe you can later move to a larger stadium and bring that buzz with you, and have half a chance of also selling that extra capacity.

But I imagine as a business it would be hard to turn down extra ticket revenue just for the vibes.

This league is not exactly profitable. FOMO sounds exciting but how much money are the clubs losing every year? In those rare cases, it might help to go to a bigger stadium nearby if there’s one available. Of course, they have to be sure that stadium hire isn’t exorbitant.

Obviously, we’re only talking about a very small amount of games in the fixture list.

The risk is the club can end up losing money taking a punt on filling a bigger venue that ends up empty, unless there’s a sweetheart deal like the Bulls have gotten. I think we’re better off risking less and getting into a stadium we’d reliably pack out financially rather than hoping for a sugar hit like the 63k derby, given that taking the games there destroyed the atmosphere and was a factor in collapsed attendances.

Johnny K?

Retre HAS to be one.

Am I the only one who saw Bimbi and automatically read “Always Advance, Never Retre”?

Shouldn’t that be “Always Retre, Never Advance”?

Good start for signings, mostly local players with a smattering of international experience.

I think they should sign Rodwell. It’s manifest destiny.
