Australian Women’s National Team Thread - Our best chance at a World Cup

Not too sure but they definitely had a following in Vic and WA.

The 2003 World Cup was there Matildas moment. It certainly felt like the whole country supported them.

I think the big difference is that was where their interest peaked. A combination of Rugby Australia charging ridiculous prices for tickets and the steady decline in onfield success saw the support drop away.

At least with the Matilda’s it feels like there is still some growth to come with the Olympics then hosting the Asian Cup.

But of the problem is the 2003 RWC Final was the greatest game of rugby ever and there wasn’t any need to play it anymore after that.

Aus u20’s are playing with SKorea u20’s right now in the snow. Our Sydney girls loving life in Tashkent.

Watch full episodes of TV shows for free on 10 play - Network Ten.

Even better, for the second half they’ve cleared more of the half of the pitch that korea are attacking, leaving us to continue to play beach/snow soccer when we try to attsck. Totally fair.

Edit: its stigma

Wohooooo!!! 1-1!

Ridiculous that this game has gone ahead on this pitch in these conditions. The fuckers have broken Dos Santos.

I’ll take the win though.

And a WIN it should be!!!

Well done the girls. 1-2 win.

Getting out of the group qualifies to the u20 WC.

Next game against Uzbekistan.

imagine an international going ahead in these conditions:

At least they used a red ball. The sidelines weren’t marked appropriately and couldn’t be seen. Not sure why they didn’t clear the middle of the pitch and instead chose to clear some bits on the sides, snow was pretty deep and as @Simo said, like playing beach football.

Did they clear the pitch, or were these areas that had underground heating?

A mate of mine is part of the coaching team over there now. Her insta stories before the game were x10 worse.

Have probably mentioned it before but I gave Leah Blayney one of her first paid coaching gigs back in 2016. On strong recommendation from Nahuel Arrarte we paid her and her assistant (ALW GK Trudi Burke) a modest sum to run the U6/U7 Funskills every Saturday morning at Castle Hill. There was much opposition from other cunts with vested interests on the committee at that time, oh how I will laugh when she replaces Tony G a decade later.

Anyways, that surface probably had her longing for the 6 inch deep rabbit holes that we used to have to hurriedly fill with sand up at Eric Mobbs at 6am before one of the kids got lost down them.

We used to use a similar technique when i spent a couple of years in Cobbity. Fill the rabbit holes, leave one or two open. The great danes would be waiting and eventually had dinner. Carcasses back at the house the next morning.

Good game plan.

Sam Kerr in a bit of trouble, it seems

She sure is a Chelsea player.

Next thing you know she’ll be sleeping with all they team mates wives…

We’ve all been in an argument with a taxi driver over a fare but surely someone in her position and with her wealth just pays the fare.
If she then wanted to take it further she can go to the cab company and/or use her fame to get any refund.

To carry on to the point that the police become involved and then have to defend these allegations over a taxi fare that you earn in about 10 minutes is a pretty stupid position to get yourself into.

True, possible she was under the influence of something and wasn’t thinking straight. Can’t really see how you get yourself into such a mess otherwise.

I was thinking “she sure is Australian” :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:
