Melbourne
They must not be good pit bikes if they need to run with them
With?
On.
Potts Point doesn’t exist, it’s just where people say they live so they don’t have to tell people they live in the cross
Actually, Kings Cross doesn’t exist.
Might have done a disc in my back, had random leg pain for a while and tired/tight back. Woke up this morning and it was proper fucked, got some tramadol and waiting for an MRI.
Joy.
Fuck. I hope it is not too bad, I know loads of people who have had disc problems, some very severe and effectively inoperable, some treated (over years) with “just” a series of steroid injections, exercise and a lot of time.
Hopefully yours is even less than that.
Having done the same disc multiple times with varying severity, hang in there. Get a good physio, and do the rehab exercises they prescribe. It’s remarkable how quickly you recover from it.
Take the drugs they prescribe, don’t do what my friend did and not take them then complain and get a second opinion from another doctor who thinks he needs to go even more invasive because the drugs (that were not taken) weren’t working
It’s nerve pain too, so the best you can really hope for is marginal inflammation relief to take pressure off the nerve. You can’t actually stop the nerve from causing pain (IIRC).
Hence the rehab exercises to get the disc back to where it belongs. It’s really a time thing, also as much as moving hurts, it’s better for it than lying around which doesn’t actually hurt while you’re doing but causes everything to stiffen in making it worse in the long run.
Yep, it’s a locality & not a suburb. Still I like pointing out to Potts Point people that they actually live in 'the Cross" because I know they have some sort of inherent superiority about it & want to conveniently forget that King’s Cross exists.
Moving into Woolloomooloo next week, I’ll let you know if it’s boring in a few weeks
How close to the housie?
There’s housos about half a block away.
It’ll make me feel like I’m back home in Western Sydney again
Tramadol helped, I’ve been able to rest comfortably for a while. Just hoping I can get into the MRI quickly and see if it’s proper fucked or not.
Heaps of housos in the Loo. There is also the OG Pokie Free pub on Stanley Street.
I used to park my car in Woolloomooloo and walk through the botanical gardens when I worked in Macquarie St in the early 90’s
That was until one of the locals took a keen interest in my Nike runners, and decided that they’d probably look better on him than they did on me.
Luckily this interaction occurred just as I was approaching my car and I was able to jump in. There was a brief tug-of-war where the nice young man was trying to pull the door open while I had a hold on the inside door handle.
I clearly remember thinking to myself “I hope the people that screw the door handles on Holden Geminis use good screws”. Eventually I was able to pull the door closed and smack the lock, proceeding to put the key in the ignition as the indigenous gentleman now started punching the glass.
A 1979 Gemini was not reknowned for its reliability, so once again I wondered if this was the day that it would fail to start. Luckily it was not, and I was able to drive off, watching my new friend in the rear view mirror looking for something to throw at me.
I started parking in a different spot after that.
You know the worst part of this story?
Dude. A Gemini? Have some self respect.
Still a better love story than Twilight.
A modest vehicle for a modest man (with fancy sneakers).
