Cheerleaders 2018

I went to the Bateau Bay one once with a mate. We drove up from Sydney one evening via the Old Pacific Hwy on a bit of a road trip.

Thought it was decent - but very similar to HJs, and pricier.

Went to the one at Oran Park a few weeks ago as well just off the Northern Rd. Again, a pricy HJs .

Decent shakes.

They are just a better (currently) version of HJ’s.

I love how these stories always say “popular”.

I mean obviously they aren’t or they wouldn’t be closing down.

I used to work across the road from the one in Bathurst. I went twice.

Expensive Hungry Jacks isn’t what I want or need. ANd people that like the potato skin left on the chips have a mental condition.

I like my fries uncircumcised.

So i ordered an uber for myself and it’s literally a taxi. Is that even legal?

I don’t mind it on occasion. The burgers at Five Guys probably don’t live up to the type - though they’re good - but the chips are awesome.

There used to be a taxi option in the Uber app…weird one though if you just wanted an Uber x

I dont understand the general dislike for taxis. Taxis are better. They can use bus lanes so if I caught one from the hills to moorepark on a friday afternoon, they can avoid traffic by using the bus lanes on the M2, cahill express and around moore park and drop my closer to the stadium too. Even if I get caught in traffic in a taxi, they generally wont want to keep asking me questions until they generate a converstaion. I dont think either are more expensive than the other too.

Taxis changed after covid or at some point after I left Sydney.

The last time I was trying to get a taxi in Surry Hills after a game a year or two ago with @Sydney_Rovers every cab we hailed wanted to do the trip back to the IW for a set fee, off meter.

He said this was the norm now.

Definitely the norm, though I’ve been paying a set fee, cash for taxis my whole adult life. 20 odd years ago a taxis from the cross back to the hills early saturday morning on the meter was 60 bucks but 50 cash off meter would do it everytime and reasonable for 4 blokes to pay $12 each. Last time I caught one home it was 100 cash which was still cheaper than an uber.

Look I hate using Uber but they were charging around $50-$60 just to get from the Strawberry Hill Hotel to Dulwich Hill and no way it cost that amount.

Just note that this off the meter set fee thing is illegal.

Just wait for it to rain between 5-7pm in the city on a week night - every fare is by negotiation.

They are utter cunts when it suits them, then cry poor when are hard done by themselves.

At least they now ask if they can charge the toll back into the city if you’re going north before they start the meter (usually). Which is a bit shit as they are going to charge the next person anyway, usually I’ll consider it as a tip at the end of the journey if they drive well and don’t smell like rancid week old farts.

I think the big one is the accountability on individual drivers. Most people can relate to plenty of stories of dodgy taxi drivers refusing fairs due to location, driving the long way or just being plain dodgy. Uber at least removes that risk, or minimizes it. Throw in the very useful app, not having to sit there waiting to pay or even waiting for a cab to drive past

Now this is cool.

Got a patient with Nazi tattoos. That’s a first.

What’s the equivalent of the tolerance paradox for the hypocratic oath?

Huh, after googling I discovered ubers can’t use bus lanes. Could’ve sworn that was allowed.

This is RAN staff, correct?

No. I’m on placement in a civvy hospital ICU.

If I found someone with tattoos like that in defence they’d be out the door in an instant.
