I would but itā€™s asking me to link a parent account like Iā€™m not well into my 30sā€¦.

Anyone ever tried it on a mac?

I got the free FM23 last year on my macbook air and it works fine.

Gotta say itā€™s definitely a frustrating play first time with Sydney FC. Been trying to get my wages down using the editor, but still way outside of the wages. They havenā€™t applied the correct cap exemptions for the players, so everyone is counted towards the final cut. Have to use the editor or hope for updated contracts to get it happening, otherwise thereā€™s no way to get the team the same as we had last yearā€¦

More annoying because they have what 40 top tier leagues, youā€™d assume theyā€™d get a top tier league correct, rather than just leaving it unfinished. Especially as it doesnā€™t seem like thereā€™s THAT many changes from 2023

Itā€™s a reason I havenā€™t played a full Sydney FC save in many, many years. They just donā€™t seem to care for doing it properly, and thereā€™s less to do in terms of building the club up. No pro/rel. Pretty much one game a week for most/all of the season. I find it quite boring.

I did a Sydney FC save in FM14. Itā€™s a pretty easy save once you get the squad right. Won the AFC Cup and Champions League several times.

Once I built up my youth development we would walk the league by 20+ points per season every year. Iā€™d end up selling 8 or 9 players to Europe for several million each. It got to the point where basically the Australia team was 90% Sydney FC players, and the youth Iā€™d bring in to cover those on NT duty were just as good as the first XI players.

Whilst smashing WS and Australiaā€™s Shame 3 or 4 times per year was satisfying, it did get a bit boring, especially once Champions League stopped being a challenge. The club did end up with the financial revenue of Manchester City, however, so that was pretty satisfying.

I did SFC in 2023 and found that it wasnā€™t actually the worst. The player singings were fine and wasnā€™t an issue to get the players into the team. The worst part of A-League is the friendlies leading in, you end up smashing every team 9-0 and just becomes very very boring at the end of the day, until the main league starts. The joy of SFC is finding that random loan players that end up destroying the league, before going back to where they came from.

I do generally do my SFC saves as a way to get a bit of rep before going into one of the bigger leagues. Mentioned before that I did 2 years with SFC, won the Asian Champions League, before moving over to manage Leeds and getting them from a relegation position to mid table finish. Next year got them through to Europa Cup qualification, after which we got kicked out in the Semiā€™s

I think Iā€™ll try SFC one more time from the beginning. I thought setting the designated players would be fine, but probably need to do the other designations as well to make sure weā€™re all good and covered so I have a full team of players.

Once I get a new laptop, Iā€™ll get back into FM.

Now that Iā€™m single and got nothing better to do with my time.

Iā€™ll just post my FM stuff in this thread now. I forgot this existed for a while.

Despite spending a tenth of clubs like Udinese and Bologna on player wages, Sambenedettese managed to leapfrog both of them and finish second, sealing promotion to Serie A! It was a pretty crazy season. The bigger teams insisted on playing pretty cautiously, instead of using their superior squads to blow teams off the park. Bologna went up via the play-offs but Udinese missed out on promotion (and nearly missed the play-offs entirely). I did blow a chance to finish top, though. Conceded a late goal to Carpi, then lost to eventual title winners Pescara, then lost to Crotone to finish the season. Nonetheless, promotion is a pretty crazy achievement that in turn, makes me a bit scared of going up so early!

Scamacca (on loan) finished with 14 goals, just like the previous season in Serie C. Peralta finished with 12. Bolzoni was next with 8 goals, then Piu (loan) on 7 goals.

Its been a very long time since Iā€™ve brought in so many new players in the off-season. The only positions that have been left untouched are GK and RB, who should be solid enough for a first season up. Iā€™ve brought in a dozen players in total:

LB: Luca Ranieri (loan), Lorenzo Filippini (loan last season > free this season), Luigi Dā€™Ignazio (free, going out on loan)
CB: Denis Duarte (Ā£450k), Michele Rigione (free), David Carmo (loan)
DM: Matti Steinmann (free)
CM: Luca Valzania (free)
LW/RW: Accursio Bentivegna (free)
LW: Bruno Dip (Ā£130k)
ST: Gbolahan Salami (free), Luca Vido (loan)

Iā€™m also realising how the TV deal works in Serie A. It looks like I get around Ā£30m in total, sent in weekly instalments, so it wonā€™t be until later in the season that I can afford a decent transfer. Nonetheless, it provides a really good financial platform the club didnā€™t have in the previous two seasons.

My FM itch is growing again. I need to get my laptop sorted out and get back into it.

I donā€™t think itā€™s got anything to do with FMā€¦ You may need some cream

Iā€™ve played the first five games of my Serie A season with Sambenedettese. One win, two draws and two losses. Not unexpected given the step up required, and all the players Iā€™ve had to bring in, but there have been truly epic and ridiculous games.

  • 4-2 win away to SPAL
  • 4-4 draw at home to Inter, leading twice, then went two goals behind, with Inter imploding in the last 10 minutes with a penalty, red card and equaliser with the last kick of the game
  • 5-5 draw at home to Sassuolo after going behind twice, leading with a few minutes to go, then Sassuolo scoring pretty much from that kick-off to level it

Itā€™s funny being the equal best attack in the league and the worst defence. It could be a fun season.

Have made my way through 23 games of the Serie A season with Sambenedettese. Currently sitting in 14th place and five points above the drop zone. I added two new CBs (Stetina, free transfer, and Nathan from Brazil for 900k) and a new RB (Nedelin from Argentina for a total of 1.5m). Have signed up my loan striker on a Bosman for the new season, too. Have also sold two of my CBs (De Pasquale, one of my original CBs, and Rigione, who was found out very quickly at Serie A level).

Best result so far is probably a 2-0 home win against Atalanta. We have a pretty good home record but our away record is atrocious. We have conceded eight more goals than the second-worst defence, but many of those goals have come away from home where we often leak 3-4 goals a game. Yet my keeper has somehow managed four clean sheets in the league!

Very tough season but weā€™ve done it with two games to go! Just as well, as I didnā€™t see us getting points against Roma (home) or Atalanta (away) to finish the season. Weā€™re unlikely to finish below 15th and could even finish as high as 11th in the most unlikely of circumstances. A great season, either way.

Already have signed Vido on a Bosman for next season, as well as a badly-needed ball winning midfielder (Afriyie Acquah) and long-term goalkeeping prospect (Guido Guerrieri). Also upgrading some facilities so should be able to attract better personnel over the next season or two.

After a couple of weeks off, Iā€™ve got back to my Sambenedettese save in FM19. We finished 14th in the 2020/21 season after smashing Atalanta 4-0 on the road on the final day. Iā€™ve only got as far as the first league round of the season after a huge transfer window.

IN:
Giangiacomo Magnani (CB from Lazio) for club record Ā£2.7m
Luca Ranieri (LB from Fiorentina - loaned in last season) for Ā£2.6m
Alfred Gomis (GK from SPAL) for Ā£1.9m
David Carmo (CB from Braga - loaned in last season) for Ā£1.3m
George Puscas (CF from Palermo) for Ā£180k
Afriyie Acquah (CM from Udinese) for free
Luca Vido (ST from Atalanta - loaned in last season) for free
Guido Guerrieri (GK from Lazio) for free
Amad Traore (winger from Atalanta) on loan

Only Guerrieri and Puscas are likely to be squaddies out of that lot, so I will need time to bed the team in. We have started with a promising 2-2 draw at home to a strong Genoa team. Acquah put one in the top corner with the last kick of the game.

Definitely looking to play this a bit more over the next few weeks.

Update on the Sambenedettese save. Iā€™ve got through to the first half of season four (2021/22). Weā€™re sitting in 11th place in Serie A, eight points clear of safety. Weā€™re up there on the back of a terrific home record, which only resulted in one loss against league leaders Napoli. Our away form is still very poor, though, and need to improve. Probably just need to defend in every away game and hope for the best!

Gomis has been an awesome signing so far and Traore is top scorer. Ranieri has been better than expected but Iā€™m super reliant on him staying fit, because the backup LB is crap. The rest of the above signings have been average to poor. I think for next season, Iā€™ll just need to concentrate on getting a few really good players instead of a heap of average to good ones. It depends on how much the clubā€™s reputation improves. Weā€™re still 32nd in Italy with 3-star reputation.

The chairman is also retiring at the end of the season. With any luck, weā€™ll get someone in who is a bit richer and a bit more willing to upgrade facilities. Usually I have to accuse the current chairman of not being ambitious before he spends money on even average upgrades.
