I’m 7 years into a FM20 save as 1.FC Kaiserslautern, much love to that club because of 2006 v Japan.
Taken from 3 Liga to winning the Bundesliga in 24/25, massive off year for FC Bayern taken advantage of with a 6 match end of season winning streak. The squad isn’t deep enough to run a European and domestic challenge though, 5th and out at first knockout stage in champs league in the following season, currently 8th and into 2nd knockout of Euro cup
Team is 21/22 years old on average with most on 5 year contracts so my squad is settled until they hit their prime, was doing the “collect all the good bosman players” trick to get me up the leagues, now hunting for one or two young future stars.
Will be disappointed if I don’t get into Euro cup again this season, have 2 “star players for Bundesliga” one “world class” and remainder as good or leading for Bundesliga according to my coaching staff so I should hopefully pick up the pace again after the mid season break.
Have managed to max out training and youth facilities too
I’m six years into a Swedish save. 2 years at Skovde followed by most recent 4 years at Malmo. Going for 4 titles in a row and just led them to Euorpa League semi final.
Definitely looking for another club soon. Thinking maybe Italy actually.
Speaking of Italy, the Italian NT job was just offered to me in my Samb save. I decided to take it and have a dual club-country role. Not sure if it is the right decision yet but we will see.
I have finally sat down and played a bit more of my Sambenedettese save. Currently fifth on the table with seven games left in the 2022-23 season. We’re only one point from a Champions League spot, but have a tough run coming up (Lazio away, Inter home, Fiorentina away, Juve at home, then sixth-placed Bologna away) so I’m not expecting to stay so close after that run is over. Crucially, though, we’re 12 points ahead of seventh-placed Genoa. We could be heading for European football, baby!
My very own Luca Vido is Serie A’s top scorer with 20 goals, ahead of Cuntiano Ronaldo on 14. Angulo hasn’t been prolific in the second half of the season but is still equal fifth on the scorers list with 12. Bentivegna has scored 8 with 15 assists in 30 games, and his value has shot up almost three-fold in the space of eight months!
Also managed my first games with the Italy NT. Two welcome, but not convincing wins against Iceland and Turkey. The latter is the toughest team in the group, though.
We secured the Champs League spot on the final day, being three points behind Roma but ahead on goal difference. Roma went down to Inter and we edged out Cagliari 1-0 in one of the most tense games of FM in a long time. Gomis absolutely brought it home for us with some amazing saves and others with desperate blocks and clearances.
The below photo also happened a few hours (in-game time) after my owners rejected a request from me to upgrade the stadium, despite having sellouts for 11 of the 19 home games this season of our little slice of paradise, the Riviera delle Palme (13,708 all-seater and a solar panel-filled roof).
Onto next season and hopefully enough money to keep making upgrades to the squad. It’s going to get a bit harder as signings in most positions are going to start getting expensive. I’ve got a few Bosman transfers coming in, one of which should be really handy.
Just resigned at Malmo after delivering 4 titles in a row. Also managed to get into champions league proper which was nice, though we got destroyed. Looking for my next job now!
Seeing I don’t have Paramount and am avoiding the shitshow that seems to be unfolding over there, I’ve done most of my off-season recruiting already, a month ahead of the new Sambenedettese season. I’ve snapped up the following players:
Iver Fossum (starting box-to-box mid for free)
Pacome Diallo (19 yo starting DM for 4m)
Kiki Silva (good winger for free)
Toni Lato (good left back for free)
Filippo De Col (backup right back for free)
Also bought a few kids who are solid prospects.
I’ve got quite a strong and balanced squad now, especially in the front and middle third. The only slightly questionable areas for me are CB and GK. The starters are good, but if one of them gets a long-term injury there will be a problem. I can’t really spend much more on wages. It’s been a good thing I’ve still been able to improve the side with free transfers, as I can concentrate on improving facilities a bit more.
I’m not long into my new season with Sambenedettese. Three wins and a draw to start the league season, but now we have to juggle a Champions League group which has Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and a stacked AS Monaco. Time to ready our collective anuses, methinks. The youth team certainly should have. They got thumped 9-0 by Bayern’s youth team in the U19 Champions League
Took Eintracht Frankfurt job. They finished 8th in 2027/28 season. Interesting opportunity.
Annoyingly I’ve lost 4 players thanks to release clauses within my first month. The board being stingy, only giving me a small percentage of transfer fee to reinvest. We got around €60m yet only around €15 m was put in transfer budget…
So if we use the original database, we have to wait for an originally unplayable club to become available? (eg. a club that is promoted from a non-playable league into a playable one).
Yeah that is pretty much it. You can sign the players already at the club to new contracts but any new players need to come from the youth intake.
I am currently stuck in the Championship due to not producing quality defensive players. My attack it fine but the defence is the worst in the league. Added annoyance is trying to keep your players every transfer window as it is not simple to replace them.
You might have to look at your Head of Youth Development to see what’s going on. Tactical styles and features have an impact, on top of the usual levels of judging ability and potential, and of working with youngsters. Reputation may also have some effect, as well as the HoYD’s personality. The mentality of newgens are more likely to be modeled off the HoYD in some way.
