+1, we’ve covered it to death in the Corica thread. The belief he just rode Arnie’s coattails because the box system remained is incredibly lazy, still too widely held, and incorrect.

Ok.
Let’s ignore inheriting the best setup in this country ever.
Let’s ignore the steadily declining recruitment.
Let’s ignore the steadily declining performance.
Let’s ignore the 2 year extension he should never have gotten.
You’re right. I’m wrong. Bimbi won stuff and is maligned unfairly.
Why is it that Talay is getting a better style of play and better results out of Corica’s squad? These are Corica’s players and Corica’s assistant coach.
That performance last night never happens with Corica. JCP’s goal last week doesn’t happen.
You can hide behind trophies and not eating our own and club legend all you like. Talay is doing better with Corica’s resources than Corica did.
Not the point I was making, but carry on.
Corica kept one of the greatest outfits successful well past how long success usually lasts in the league whilst continuing to rebuild the squad multiple times. The fact that he came after the greatness of Arnie’s reign meant he was always going to look worse and gets a ridiculous amount of hate on here.
Your post literally ends by saying Uffies 16 games of nice to watch football > Corica’s 5 titles, continued success and less exciting football. “You can hide behind trophies” is just a wild statement- isnt that what the whole point is?
Lads this ain’t the Corica thread!
Lets stick to Ufuk & crew, and the future.
Sometimes two things can be true at the same time.
Lol
Did we not just have an argument about a certain striker being the worst we’ve ever had? The statistics points to something very different than a simple “Corica is crap”
This is the internet, when people have a strong opinion showing them evidence they are wrong only makes them believe they are right even harder.
After listening to Markos insightful analysis, this thread title is now confusing me?
Explain Talay doing better with Corica’s squad and staff in such a short time?
Pump the brakes a bit, I reckon. A big win against a rival is good for the recency bias.
I like the direction that Talay seems to be taking us, but he hasn’t won anything yet.
He got it wrong the longer he stayed, but he definitely did well in the first years. He noticeably went downhill as our main players were very much ageing. Point is, he won trophies with a squad that, by the time he won the last trophy, it was very much his…
And I’m not allowed to say how much better this team is doing with Talay becuse Corica won trophies 5 years ago.
And if we end up losing, we’ll lose with style. Unlike Corica where we lost with … sigh.
I mean you are, but you’re also saying, or at least insinuating, multiple different points. Amongst them, that Corica is crap and that Talay is better.
Corica definitely lost the midas touch with the squad over time. He did change formation to try and rectify some of the tactical issues but the players seemed pretty confused on the field half the time as to what to do. We were unbalanced and it was clear his time was coming to an end.
That said, all of the clubs have stopped messing around and started putting out serious, competitive teams most of the time. We did slowly drop off over that time and that’s how clubs started to surpass us in the last year or two. I do agree, however, that Corica’s familiarity with Arnie’s setup probably bought us another year, possibly two years, of success. A new manager fresh to the setup might well have sent us backwards in a hurry.
Oh FFS. If you’ve not been paying attention, I’ve been saying Corica is not up to it for about 3 years.
Talay comes along and improves Corica’s squad way past what Corica was doing. What don’t we get?
Why can’t say that Talay is doing better? Why can’t we say that the coach that spent 3 years being crap at his job was crap at his job?
All I did was come into this thread and suggest Talay is doing better than what Corica did.
Yeah, but Corica had a better goal scoring record as a player than Talay did.
Check mate athiests…
