Euro 2020 thread

I think both teams are trying to press high and drawing each other one way or the other. The whole game lacks technique though beyond the odd nice touch.

Entertaining but.
If you don’t have skin in it…

Would have been a travesty if that pen had been given. Scotland looking better now as the Czechs tire a bit.

ugh

You’ve seen those given

That’s pretty alright…

I’ve long thought that there should be a judging panel that can award extra points for goals like that.

First touch as well. Knew where the keeper was and took the chance by having the shot.
I’m not up for double goals but off they ever being in a super goal then that is the benchmark.

Poland in a bit of a hole. Slovakia are here to play. Very strong on the break.

Great start to the half!

Order the cyanide…

Defensive masterclass from Spain.

The finishing in the Spain Sweden game was dreadful but i’ll take the point.
Robin Olsen was immense

I thought Poland did well in the midfield, controlling the game from there. Their biggest issue was they didn’t know what to do with Slovakia’s very compact defense. Pretty much meant that Lewandowski had no space. They should have sat back to hit them on the counter-attack. Both goals for Slovakia were from some pretty poor defending, especially the second with 4 defenders ball watching…

the thing is, any one with a semblance of reality know that England is a top ten team in the world on their best day… with a fair run we can get a semi final spot in a tournament but winning would take Greek levels of good fortune.

Still… its the hope that kills us.

Its coming home, coming home…

And that’s the bit that fans of other countries enjoy. England is Charlie Brown and hope is holding the football he’s trying to kick and pulling it away at the last moment.

Try being Polish… Every tournament we have the same formula:

Qualification: Win most games with ease and directly qualify
Game 1: Come in with focus on one big name star, lose with big name star not shining
Game 2: Play hard, but either lose or draw
Game 3: Complete change in starting lineup, win game with ease, get knocked out.

Fucking whingers.

Bulgaria can’t even qualify.

I stayed up for the Scotland match until the 80 min mark. I saw a cracking second half goal which gave the Czechs a two goal lead and plunged a dagger into the heart of every Scottish football supporter. Then I fell asleep. When I woke up this morning the result was still a 0-2 loss, there was no dramatic three goal turn-around heralding a new renaissance of Scotland football.

RU OK Jubal?

I’m glad Eriksen is recovering. I’m also conflicted us Finns having won the game in such circumstances, Certainly takes away from being able to have celebrated our first ever EUROs match, goal and win.

I hope we get a win over the Russians to be able to enjoy the tournament as a fan of a team that has been part of FIFA since 1907.

“Football was first brought to Finland in the 1890s by English sailors, and it was first played in Turku. The first national competition in the sport was set up in 1906, and won by a school team from Turku. The Football Association of Finland was founded in 1907 and it joined FIFA the following year.”
