I guess the real question is, who is going to have more influence? Peter Thiel in Vance’s corner, or Vladimir Putin (and Russia) in Trump’s corner?

Only one of those guys has the FSB available to kill whoever he wants.
However I’m sure for the most part their interests would be non-conflicting. Putin wouldn’t give a fuck about internal US policy, as long as their foreign policy isn’t restricting him. Trump/Vance or whoever else is available out of the far right options would happily make way for the right amount of cash.
Either of those two are great for Putin and will be happy to give him what he wants.
The great thing is Vance loves to mention being a marine and deploying, doesn’t mention that it was as part of the public relations team.
Not exactly the pointy end of the spear.
Paper cuts deserve Purple Hearts too!
Alabama is now being sued by the Justice Department as they’re planning on removing a bit over 3000 registered voters as they’re claiming they’re illegal immigrants. They’ve acknowledged that some of those caught up in the purge may have been naturized since registering. They’re being sued as there’s meant to be a 90 day grace period before a vote, in which no one should systematically play with voter roles.
Now my question is, how do you manage to register to vote if you’re an illegal immigrant? Surely the bar to register is high enough that it should be impossible for an illegal immigrant to register? I mean are they suggesting that someone has gone out of their way to set themselves up in the US, gotten a bunch of IDs etc, ensuring they’re not discovered, to only then go out of their way to pop their head up to illegally regsiter to vote in an election?
I suspect that they think that it was not done by the people themselves, but some nefarious person or persons registering all of them trying to get more Dem voting people onto the register. This isn’t an unusual claim - some on the right have used this whole Springfield thing as the Dems dumping people they think are going to vote Dems into states with lower Dem turnout. Without reading the story you are quoting, this seems the most likely claim here.
It’s crazy how all these illegals all vote democrats
It’s crazy how crazy the US electoral system is.
Like Tasmania having the same number of senators as NSW with 7% of the population.
And the multiple different systems of voting we use throughout Australia.
Each is a function of history and circumstance.
The big thing for me in this election is how much the Democrats have shifted Elon Musk by ignoring him and supporting Tesla’s competitors, and the resultant impact on Twitter which was a left-mod platform… this is Musk who supported Biden in 2020.
I don’t see what the craziness of our system has to do with referencing how crazy the US system is.
Which is a whole lot crazier.
That part of our system is based on the US system.
Have to say, Vance has started strongly in first 15 minute of VP debate. That is not to say Walz is struggling, just not a strong as Vance to start with
Ive not seen alot of him outside of sound bytes but he (Vance) is incredibly slick.
Walz somewhat hamstrung by trying not to blunder and play it safe.
Slick meaning impressive, or snake oil salesman?
Both.
Vance is extremely articulate and has a really good sense on how to flip narratives. Id say if it wasnt for Trump hed be a much stronger GOP candidate.
Its been incredibly civil.
Vance is an impressive debater for sure, whether you agree with what he is actually saying, his presentation is better that his running mates and probably better in this than Walz.
Strange debate though really - lots of verbal agreeance with each other plus, lots of nodding via the spit screens, they are of course disagreeing with each other but it almost feels more like a primary debate than a debate across parties. You almost get the impression that they are going for a beer afterwards
Good debate. It has evened up the betting markets again, Dems were starting to pull away as the favourite for winning party.
It’s easy to sound slick when you don’t pay any attention to the truth.
