Everything is on fire - the US politics thread

Again, not rioters.

Bit hard to see a microphone when your back is to the people with the guns and it’s the middle of the night?

I dunno… shooting anyone in the back regardless of vibrancy seems a bit much.

That’s not how this is currently working.

I dunno, I find if I can’t see the microphone, the big arse professional media camera that’s pointed in their face is generally a second giveaway

that and it’s also really telling (in the Aussie reporter at least), that she’d been there for more than a few seconds and the cop only shot at her when the camera panned onto him. I 'm not a cop, but I’d say the current procedure is to tell someone to move away before shooting

It shouldn’t be too much to expect that people who enforce the law, obey the law.

This is some next level victim blaming. It also looked pretty bright to me, hardly the middle of the night.

He might have been referring to the other instance of a cop shooting a reporter

Sorry, it’s hard to keep track at the moment!

If he’s talking about the British guy, he literally had Press on the front (and assuming the back) of his flack jacket? Plus again, big fuck off camera on his face. It also should be fairly common practice to inform Police that media may be present in the crowd and they should check before they shoot.

Don’t get me wrong, if I were out there as press I’d be dressed as obviously as I could. But still, police shouldn’t be shooting people without cause.

Also, if shooting at night, they’ve got big fucking lights to illuminate the reoprter! Very very hard to miss.

Once could be construed as a mistake. Multiple times, however …

We fired a warning shot.
Above their heads?
Above their knees. You can’t get a stronger warning than that.

This. Whoever is doing the shooting is 100% at fault, but minimise your risk. Walking around in dark clothes at night in a hostile environment, camera or not is dumb.

As for the victim blaming, nope. Try again. It’s lack of common fucking sense blaming. Darwinism might be a better way to describe it when someone stands between people with guns and protestors and thinks the only thing stopping them from getting shot is a camera.

Hit the press often enough and they stop attending and reporting.
Control the media.

Autocracy 101.

Regardless of who they are if there’s no reason to shoot them, they shouldn’t be shot. It’s as simple as that.

We must be talking about different incidents? The latest shooting of the Aussie reporter wasn’t at night, it was clear as day that she was a reporter.

Ah, the 'kinda look like" cognitive test.
