There’s still time! Last time we didn’t hear until almost 4pm

They boarded the wrong flight(s) and currently find themselves in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada.

This is probably the joke, but I believe some Americans wanting to catch the 2000 Olympics actually did this.

I’d believe it.

The US Olympic team that gave us Misty Hymen.

We have a similar story up here.
Several years ago about a group of Japanese tourists holidaying on the Gold Coast hopped on a bus that they thought was taking them to Jupiters Casino.
Turns out it was the Countrylink bus and cue their surprise when several hours later they arrived in Casino instead.
The story was in the local paper but I can’t vouch for its validity.

I’ll never forget the day when I was told by an American tourist that he was extremely disappointed with our Beverly Hills.

He had literally caught the train there thinking it was going to be full of celebrities and upmarket. :joy:

I remember I was in North Sydney a few years back waiting to cross the lights at the Pacific highway. A backpacker came up to me and pointed down the road and asked “is Newcastle that way?”. I just said yes as it was and he started walking off in that direction. I ran after and told him it might be better to catch a train

We had someone come from Poland and wanted to go to Palm Beach, see the Opera House and visit the Blue Mountains and was only in Sydney for a day…

I mean it’s do-able.

Pick said person up at 7am sharp. 2 hours to Katoomba arrive approx 9am. Walk to the 3 sisters, take some snaps, depart 10.30am.

2 hours back to Sydney, but go via M7/M5 to get onto the Harbour Bridge. Tell friend to look out the right side of the car as driving over the Cahill Expressway/Harbour bridge at approx 12.30am. (You said they only wanted to see the Opera House, not visit it) :smirk:

Let’s say you then take Military and Pittwater Road and get to Palm Beach for Fish and Chips bang on lunchtime around 1.30pm. Snack on a fine feast whilst pretending you’re on Home & Away, depart 2.30-3pm back home.

you’ve never travelled with a Polish person before have you? What would actually happen:

Get there at 7am sharp, wait for 30 minutes for them to be ready. Then go find a cafe for a quick coffee. Travel 2 hours with to Katoomba with them complaining the whole way. Start walking to the 3 sisters, to find they need to change their footwear as they’re wearing sandals and haven’t taken any warm clothing because Sydney is is apparently perpetually searing hot. Take some snaps and walk back after taking multiple breaks.

2 hours back to Sydney, complaining the whole way, have to stop at multiple locations so they can have a look and then swing back because they’ve inevitably looked out the left hand side and not the right, with further complaining and breaks in between.

Get to Palm Beach for Fish and Chips which they won’t want because they don’t like those sorts of fish, find restaurant where they’ll complain the whole time and then watch as they burn to a slow and steady crisp as, hey, the sun isn’t that bad is it?

Polish person, or standard toddler??? :joy:

The correct approach is to hand them an opal card, wish them luck then go do something fun.

What channel is this being shown on? Tenplay?

yep tenplay

Don’t hold your breath. There’s intermittent showers around Sydney at the moment.

Might be called off still for a waterlogged pitch :shushing_face::shushing_face:

I once went to a conference where there were some Indonesian attendees. They had one day free before flying back to Indonesia. I asked what they were going to do in their spare day and they confidently told me that their plan was to get in a car, drive to a park and see a koala. I had to explain that I’ve lived here my whole life, regularly going to parks, and I’ve never seen one in the wild.

I’ve also had Americans tell me that the plan they had in their one day in Sydney was to see all the tourist things and then get in a car and drive to Kiama and back.
