FFA Cup Round of 32 draw

Would have much preferred an NPL side

And Robbie Fowler gets a chance to check out the Sydney property market.

What a shithouse R32 draw. No interesting clashes on paper. Playing an A-League team is such a waste of the cup.

Melbourne Knights versus Adelaide is probably the pick of the fixtures given the history of these clashes.

Disappointed for my nephew as he only goes to Mt Druitt.

Stoked the Mariners play in Maitland versus former calamity of a keeper Matthew Trott.

Why didnā€™t we draw a non A-league club? I though if you finished in the top 4 in the league you were guaranteed a non A-league club in the round of 32?

Have they changed the rules?

Im guessing they want to to try and increase the chances that non-aleague teams continue on to the latter stages of the comp. Itā€™s meant to be the magic of the cup isnā€™t it? Allowing lower teams compete against the big boys for silverware, ā€œeveryone has a chanceā€

I thought (from my hazy memory of when this whole thing started years ago) that the bottom six Australian teams were guaranteed to be drawn against each other, that there was a quarter of the draw that no A-League team could be drawn into, and the rest was down to chance. Thatā€™s obviously either outdated or wrong, because based on those rules we couldnā€™t have drawn a bottom six side.

Yeah thatā€™s how it used to be (until this year maybe?) but this time around I guess they went for a more open draw, which is probably sensible and hopefully more of a move towards a fully open draw.

They scrapped the ā€œHAL semi-finallists get non-HAL oppoā€ rule the year after bringing it in. I remember reading an article about it saying it worked against the idea of a Cup competition. Canā€™t for the life of me find it now.

Hey, hereā€™s an idea. Why donā€™t they just put all 64 balls into one pot and do the draw from just one pot.

Iā€™m a traditionalist. Any manipulation of the draw should be via the accepted methods such as hot and cold balls.

If thatā€™s the case, weā€™d have to confirm if Giggs can make it for the draw

Throw in a barrel girl and you have my vote.

We have a date and time, 7th of August, 7:30pm at Leichhardt Oval.

I just remembered how cold Leichhardt Oval is in winter.

Cannot attend. Hoping we can knock these mugs offā€¦
