Tony P please.
Tony P please.
Is it time to go international? Last three have been RU, AFL and NRL backgrounds and they really did all flop (besides maybe O’Neill)
I find it hilarious that everyone seems to think that David Gallop is somehow alone responsible for all the poor decisions at the FFA.
I find that use of “everyone” slightly dubious.
most people
FFA CEO, without the national league to fund and operate, is a completely different role. I would think that it would be domestic, and a football person.
That’s always worked well before.
I’ll give him some respect, he did a very good job early on. But the last 2/3’s went steadily downhill into a giant pile of shit
Certainly did well to get that tv deal at the time but the flip side is that the failure to continue to grow the League and generate revenue other ways means that the impending future reduction in the next one is going to leave clubs well short of cash.
Too conservative on expansion although I accept you need a willing tv partner to screen those extra games.
His tenure has been circling the drain since the fan protests. The feeling he was always too eager to pander to the people ready to sink the boot into the game at the expense of the fans who already do. Not sure if it was his nature or a symptom of his time at the NRL but he was way too risk adverse when we needed a leader to really drive the sport forward.
Is it okay that my first thought was “Ding-dong the witch is dead”?
Managed to put the Stajcic review off just long enough to make a “credible” exit from the game.
While he’ll be there till the end of this year and still be subject to the review, if it ever happens, it can’t be blamed for his departure. Supposedly.
Time may tell.
Not pleased to see the end of this article saying Danny T is in the shortlist for Gallop’s replacement.

They would presumably want someone more experienced. From that list Peter Filopolous would work well.
Anyone but Foster.
I’m not sure that I’d be all that opposed to Foster in an A-League-less FFA. If his job is kicking state federations into line, managing the NTs, dealing with AFC/FIFA, we could do worse.
Whoever is chosen we will passionately hate with the fire of a thousand suns, within a few weeks. It is the way of all sports administrators.
Weeks? You’re giving the Interwebs Outrage Community far too much credit.
No matter who it is it will be instantaneous.
I’d be happy with Foster. I don’t see anyone going from a club to that job (Danny T, Tony P etc.). It’s already a shitfight and it will only get worse with the transition. I can’t imagine the pay would be that good either.
Foster would just spend every waking moment blaming the A League for all the woes of the rest of football.
No thanks.
Plus there’s a difference between Foster being on the Board and setting strategic direction, compared to Foster being the CEO and having to administer the game based on the Board’s will. A CEO should have some sort of administrative experience.
