I remember watching Love Island for the first time ever. I’d just gotten out of surgery, had two plates put into my wrist and had been on a shitload of Endone. I remember thinking it was the greatest piece of theatre ever made. Like that shit should have won the Pulitzer.
The next day my wife informed me that my brother had called and I’d had one of the most non-sensical conversations of my life.
8.30am… pull into a petrol station cause the wife has left my car with no fuel whilst I was away in Melbourne.
Stop at the pump just after the bloke in front who is already filling his car. Pefect, he’ll be done just before me so no delay in leaving.
Go in and pay.
Come out the guy decides that it is the perfect moment to start filling up his engine oil, washer fluid and, i think, coolant.
Meaning I have to sit there while the cars behind realise what is going on and move to the other side of the bowser and i have to reverse out onto marion street in the rush hour.
“Oh hey we need a whole bunch of you to stay back and do basically a whole days worth of work again. Would love to help but I’m the work from home manager in Victoria. Thanks!”
Brother that resignation letter is getting written tonight.
Is this for gold class or something? Surely you should be able to get it cheaper than that? I haven’t been for a couple of years so maybe I’m wrong though
That’s ridiculous! That’s why I see so much comedy. It’s there in front of you and it’s often cheaper.
My union membership and even electricity company rewards have cheap movie ticket deals that might be worth exploring if you have access to those sorts of things?
Nah I checked all the sessions and the only other class was a “DBOX” ticket which was more expensive at $34.50.
Checked the other movies playing and they were cheaper 24.50 (kung fu panda/dune - this is their base price) -29.50 (ghost busters - on the same “Extreme screen” class as godzilla/kong).
To me it’s just dumb business aswell. I used to go to a heap of movies just because I liked going to the cinema. Like most weeks I would go and see something and I just dont any more. They absolutely lose out overall from me as a customer. I’m probably not their typical consumer I guess but I cant imagine those kind of prices get people through the door regularly.
Yeah I’m going to go see it on Tuesday after work. Was also going to see it this weekend before i saw the price. I’m assuming there’s also a public holiday surcharge in there.
The price for the big screens has been going up steadily the last few years. Disney started it when those Marvel movies were carrying the box office and everyone else has copied in the years since. This Godzilla movie is not going to be worth $31.
