So crowdstrike apparently with a major outage causing all sorts of issues.
Means I cant really do any work on a friday afternoon… fantastic.
Does mean I will probably have to do shit tonight or tomorrow though.
A group chat and here.
WHat are yas talking about?
Crowdstrike is an internet/comms security mob and lots of shit runs through their systems (e.g. two-factor authentication for us isn’t working). They are having some issues so the flow on is we cant connect to our VPN or cloud environments.
Does that explain why Xero is fucked and I can’t do my job either?
Modern tech is so stupid.
I think that’s because it’s nearly half 4 on Friday arvo and you’ve probably started drinking.
Most likely yes.
We do have a pub in the lobby, must be for this reason.
Their PoS might be down. Take cash!
Absolute fucking nightmare, most of our clients are having Major Incidents because Microsoft runs crowdshite on every server, PC and VM in their business as do most of our clients, so Azure cloud, Office 365, Outlook, OneDrive and pretty much every other service is dead in the water in most regions.
My work laptop is in an endless reboot loop.
Yeah BSOD on my laptop & desktop onsite.
Got to leave the office early, so it’s currently a win for me personally.
If I get home and my personal PC is cooked it will not be
yep, we are down… friday afternoon, time for a pint
good day to you all
Home PC fine because trusty Windows Defender is unbeatable. All i ever need
CrowdStrike Engineering has identified a content deployment related to this issue and reverted those changes.
Workaround Steps:
Boot Windows into Safe Mode or the Windows Recovery Environment Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory Locate the file matching “C-00000291*.sys”, and delete it. Boot the host normally.
That’s nice, if you have local admin rights which most corporate users.
Yeah and only stops the BSOD cycles.
Edit: Or is this just as simple as the reboot cycle shit extending to all the servers running with crowdstrike?
Hah that would be amazing.
Just heard on the radio that it is something to do with Falcon anti-virus or something like that.
Crowdstrike did an update but didn’t update Falcon beforehand so that’s what has caused the issue.
I’m sure the more tech savvy people here would understand that better than I do.
That’s exactly what it is, if your company uses crowdstrike on PC’s nobody can log in, if they use it on servers, the servers are kaput.
