Yeah, nah.
Yeah, nah.
Look I know we are all upset right now but lets all take a deep breath!
I’d rather another 5 seasons finishing outside the top 6 than a GF win under Muscat.
List of coaches I’d consider before going down that route:
If the board’s target for Corica was to finish inside the top 6 before the WC break, his bacon may have been saved by the results of the other games this round. If MV drew or won, we’d be outside the 6th. Likewise if a Wellington got a result.
We sacked him yet?
This whole top 6 before the WC break is just made up stuff from this forum isn’t it? No actual truth to it
You can’t include him twice.
I guess that depends on if they have someone lined up already or not.
If it were to happen then the earlier the better as it would give the new manager several weeks to get to know the squad, arrange friendlies and implement their ideas.
I don’t think he’ll be sacked during the break though. The only way I see a change happening in the next month is if he decides to walk away, which I cannot see him doing.
Unless there’s a dramatic turnaround in performances and form then he’ll be gone at the end of the season.
If it’s not done by lunchtime tomorrow it won’t be done till January. But probably that means he gets the season regardless.
If it happens this window it will be on December 1.
But it won’t happen this window.
I was speaking purely in hypotheticals. If targets were in place, you’d think top 6 may be one of them.
As a fan, the most disappointing thing for me is that we haven’t had a home win yet this season, in fact, we’ve only picked up a single point from our home games so far (granted there have only been three).
And that was against 10 men for an hour.
Rumour is that there was a points target for him to reach before the WC break, he did not reach it and so he’s under threat but no decision has been made.
Another rumour is that Yorke is unhappy with owner/Management interference at the Bulls and could be in the frame if Corica goes.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the terms and conditions that came with Corica’s extension came with a points/results clause leading up to the world cup break.
I imagine you would be looking at I would say it would be in the ballpark of 10-13 points from the opening 3 games. So you’re looking at least 2-3 wins, 2-3 draws and maybe 1-2 losses.
As it turns out we’re 7 from a possible 18, with 2 wins, with both being somewhat fortunate, both away from home. 1 point from a possible 9 in the brand new stadium I feel is going to be unacceptable for the board. The new stadium was the focus of the new campaign, and to suffer 2 losses and a draw, including 2 losses against direct derby rivals will not sit well with the board.
Corica will lean heavily to defend himself on the fact that our backline has been ripped apart with injuries, which is a fair dilema and excuse, although the signing of Jack Rodwell will be a major issue point I would suspect. If that were a board decision made with minimal input from Corica, they’ll either brush over it or make him the fall guy. However, if Corica had gone to the board with Rodwell being his focus point for the backline, then that’s going to reflect horrifically on him.
Either the board will pull the plug now during the break and look to re-start the season once the World Cup is over, or they’ll commence a search of a replacement and give Steve and ultimatum of something probably unattainable leading into the January window of 9 points from the opening 3 games.
Eitherway, I don’t see him having the full support and backing of the board anymore. The Sky Blue documentary was mostly all smiles and casual conversation, but you can tell they were being very guarded for the cameras in the boardroom (which has an amazing view). The body language didn’t seem overly favorable.
Dwight would be an interesting choice. Safe to say he is pretty much loved by the Sky Blue family but still pretty inexperienced with coaching
Wasn’t that part of the reason why Ante Millicic left?
I hate the idea of points targets in the short/medium term tbh, given the random nature of football.
That said, our tally probably flatters us thus far, if anything. We’ve had two pretty fortunate red cards in our favour in first halves, and still conceded goals in both of those games, and were an inch away from dropping points in both too.
Getting 0/6 against our biggest rivals at the new home ground is pretty embarrassing on top of that.
I was pretty surprised at just how much anti-Corica sentiment there appeared to be in the crowd on Saturday night. The break will probably deaden the clamour for change somewhat, but will be interesting to see the reaction if we cop another uninspiring loss in the City game post break.
Stop it!
