You don’t understand the first thing about how our club operates.
Edit, sorry, that came across as mean, I didn’t intend it to.
The way our club recruits is that the coaching team identifies their needs in terms of positions, the specific attributes they seek, and their priorities, they provide comparative examples and, occasionally, identify specific players who are examples of what they need.
The Director of Football reaches out to the scouting network and trusted agents who then identify recruitment targets, these are reviewed by the recruitment panel, which includes Corica, and negotiations, which Corica is not involved in bar discussions with the prospect about their role and the club.
In short, Corica provides requirements, the Director of Football recruits.
Dwight is both a larger than life personality and humble enough to take a coaching job at Macarthur to prove himself. I’ve been really impressed with his demeanour and candour. He has currency with the fan base and I’d be happy for the club to take a punt on him, if he’s willing to move.
The club is all about stability now and we don’t churn through coaches like we once did. If this rumour of the pre-break points total is true it would only be there in case of emergency if we were 0-0-6. We’re 2-1-3, in the top 6 (barely), so I really don’t see the club reverting to old ways and arsing a club legend this early into a 2 year deal with a new squad / system (despite there being some merit to doing so, as we’ve been largely rudderless and even quite fortunate to amass the points we have).
1% chance it happens on December 1, and that’s only if Arnie waltzes back once the NT is bundled out. 99% chance it happens at end of season if we again miss finals (you can bet that stipulation would be in Stevie’s contract).
