Follow follow follow - the Corica thread

You don’t understand the first thing about how our club operates.

Edit, sorry, that came across as mean, I didn’t intend it to.

The way our club recruits is that the coaching team identifies their needs in terms of positions, the specific attributes they seek, and their priorities, they provide comparative examples and, occasionally, identify specific players who are examples of what they need.

The Director of Football reaches out to the scouting network and trusted agents who then identify recruitment targets, these are reviewed by the recruitment panel, which includes Corica, and negotiations, which Corica is not involved in bar discussions with the prospect about their role and the club.

In short, Corica provides requirements, the Director of Football recruits.

Fast forward to 2032? “On the fields on Moore Park Road. Where once we watched King Yorkey…coach (AND COULD HE COACH!)”

You’d assume the board would give him some leeway should there be positive signs…

Which are?

Since we seem to love bringing back ex-members of the club, this guy is available.

Even today he’d probably find a place in the XI for Hiro.

Sam K always interferes. He still thinks he’s a Sydney United where he can do whatever he wants.

Dwight is both a larger than life personality and humble enough to take a coaching job at Macarthur to prove himself. I’ve been really impressed with his demeanour and candour. He has currency with the fan base and I’d be happy for the club to take a punt on him, if he’s willing to move.

If we were to go down the former SFC player taking their first steps in management path then approaching David Zdrilic wouldn’t be the worst idea.

A donkey in defence being coached by the Zdonk?

Seriously though that’s not s bad call. Assistant coach at Genoa is pretty good

Steven Gerrard?

Scottish League → Premier League → A-League would see him move up in the world of managerial heights.

Some extra bums on seats, media coverage on his arrival + sacking.

Just need to put up with random ‘YNWA’ renditions at the game.

You’ll Never Walk Alone (across the Albert Cotter Bridge bridge).

Have we sacked Corica Yet?

That would be nice!

The club is all about stability now and we don’t churn through coaches like we once did. If this rumour of the pre-break points total is true it would only be there in case of emergency if we were 0-0-6. We’re 2-1-3, in the top 6 (barely), so I really don’t see the club reverting to old ways and arsing a club legend this early into a 2 year deal with a new squad / system (despite there being some merit to doing so, as we’ve been largely rudderless and even quite fortunate to amass the points we have).

1% chance it happens on December 1, and that’s only if Arnie waltzes back once the NT is bundled out. 99% chance it happens at end of season if we again miss finals (you can bet that stipulation would be in Stevie’s contract).

The club is for stability on the basis that it’s working well. They won’t accept stability mixed with mediocre results.
