Fuck the Asterisks - The MLB Thread

Cheers, looking forward to exploring Queens. It’s the last borough for me to visit. Even spent a couple of hours in Staten Island yesterday.

I’m vegan which limits my food choices, but NYC in general seems to be 10 years ahead in vegan food options, even whole vegan food chains.

The Mets are doing well this year, hopefully a Subway World Series re-match on the cards? I’ve also kind of adopted the Mets, as becoming a Yankees fan is like becoming a Real Madrid fan (or Manchester United fan in the Fergie era). Even bought a Mets cap yesterday, which I’ll be wearing for my tip to tip Manhattan run this weekend, from Inwood to Battery Park along Broadway.

Some more moments I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of in the last few days:

That hurts, can’t believe one of Padres and Phillies will be in the World Series.

Threw a pineapple on the Padres after the Soto trade so enjoyed that today

Go Padres

If the last 6 years have taught anything, whoever takes out LA goes on to win it.

Fuck the Astros

Jinx complete. Go Phillies.

Feels like yesterday that a young Rhys Hoskins was going around for the Blue Sox, just checked and it was way back in 15/16. He’s gone alright since.

Phillies at a canter. 7-0. 2-1 up in the series

Just heard that 5 homers ties the all-time team record in a World Series game. I really, really hope they were stealing signs off McCullers.

5th a disaster for Phillies

Team Aus into the quarters of the World Baseball Classic for the first time.

Won 3 out of 4 group games, losing only to Japan, crucial win against South Korea (suck it, Geelong!) in the opener and then cruisy enough wins against China and the Czech Republic sealed our progress in second spot.

We play Cuba in Tokyo tomorrow night, despite being a baseball nation they only won 2 (Panama and Taiwan) after losing 2 (Netherlands and Italy) in their group.

The regular season is pointless. The four teams with the best records by far are all goneski’s, winning one single post-season game between them.

The Braves and Dodgers both to divisional rivals they finished 14 & 16 games ahead of respectively, meanwhile over in the AL both the Rays and Orioles were swept by the Rangers who previously choked their division title and scraped into the wild card.

So it’s Asterisks vs Rangers in the ALCS and Phillies vs Diamondbacks in the NLCS. As the thread title indicates 3/4 would be palatable World Series winners.

Rangers get the job done in game 7. :+1: Just like when the Nats also beat the Asterisks in the World Series, all 7 games were won on the road.

Phillies also hosting a game 7 tomorrow.

Tremendous to see the Astros get embarrassed at home.
No real feeling for any of the others so go Schwarber.
