Cheers, looking forward to exploring Queens. It’s the last borough for me to visit. Even spent a couple of hours in Staten Island yesterday.
I’m vegan which limits my food choices, but NYC in general seems to be 10 years ahead in vegan food options, even whole vegan food chains.
The Mets are doing well this year, hopefully a Subway World Series re-match on the cards? I’ve also kind of adopted the Mets, as becoming a Yankees fan is like becoming a Real Madrid fan (or Manchester United fan in the Fergie era). Even bought a Mets cap yesterday, which I’ll be wearing for my tip to tip Manhattan run this weekend, from Inwood to Battery Park along Broadway.
Team Aus into the quarters of the World Baseball Classic for the first time.
Won 3 out of 4 group games, losing only to Japan, crucial win against South Korea (suck it, Geelong!) in the opener and then cruisy enough wins against China and the Czech Republic sealed our progress in second spot.
We play Cuba in Tokyo tomorrow night, despite being a baseball nation they only won 2 (Panama and Taiwan) after losing 2 (Netherlands and Italy) in their group.
The regular season is pointless. The four teams with the best records by far are all goneski’s, winning one single post-season game between them.
The Braves and Dodgers both to divisional rivals they finished 14 & 16 games ahead of respectively, meanwhile over in the AL both the Rays and Orioles were swept by the Rangers who previously choked their division title and scraped into the wild card.
So it’s Asterisks vs Rangers in the ALCS and Phillies vs Diamondbacks in the NLCS. As the thread title indicates 3/4 would be palatable World Series winners.
