In Parramatta around the RBB is one of the worst parts of Sydney to be in on Mardi Gras parade night. Anyway, already booked my travel and accomodation for Victory away in January. Taking the overnight train in both directions. So, 3 nights total.

I’ve been somewhat curious about doing that for an away trip to Melbourne. Its about the same proce in a flight isn’t it, on Jetstar? Although the difference is the flights about an hour, the train is 12 - which is about the same as driving if you stop regularly enough.

The train could take 3 days to get there and it would still be more appealing than the prospect of a Jetstar flight

Oddly enough, I have never had an issue with Jetstar.

I’ve not flown since COVID, but never had an issie with them every time I’ve flown.

I was on a delayed flight to Sydney from Melbourne once with Qantas, but that was down to a thunderstorm over Sydney.

For totally routine reasons, I once sat on the tarmac at Tullamarine for 4 hours with Jetstar. I also once had my Sunday night flight home rescheduled to first thing Monday morning and had to find an extra night’s accommodation at the last minute.

Jetstar is a fucking joke with its 29" seat pitch. By the time you add on exit row seats so that your knees can actually fit, you might as well have just paid for Qantas.

For the first time in my life, you’ve made me a thankful 5"7 person…

So it looks like two games a week on 10Bold - double last season.

A Sat night game and a Sun day.

So looks like SFC will be the Saturday night kings

I thought they had the same arrangement last season.

Yes it was the same last season. IIRC It was originally one ALM and one ALW but it became two ALM during the season.

If I’m not mistaken:

  • 2021/22: One ALM on 10Main and one ALW on 10Bold.
  • 2022/23: Two ALM on 10Bold and all ALW on 10Play.

One big plus for a train over driving, I can sleep.
I also get half-fare on the train.

I had a good experience on the overnight to Brisbane recently. I had a flight on the way back, due to time restrictions, and my flight (Virgin) was cancelled and 10 hours added to my trip, and I was running around in a panic. I have the time at both ends in January, so thought I’d do the train both way. :train2:

Yes, the last expansion teams have worked out sooooo well.

New derbies, or “More Melbourne and Sydney derbies!”?

They’re adding twob Canberra teams to spice it up!
