Heartle$$: Melbourne City Thread

So much time on commentary in the final was spent talking about the players who will probably be leaving City in the off season. Bos, O’Neil, Tilio, Glover.

To be honest I don’t think I trust Rado to rebuild that team. He inherited the best squad, cruised to the final because no one else was consistent, then got absolutely steam rolled in the final when someone finally put up a fight. Can’t see them winning again next year.

He’s a shit manager, no surprise they failed

Plastics are plastic

Fucking lol you sports washing bastards.

I don’t know what Rado did to justify getting that job. It also seems to be a step away from what the CFG model is about, giving younger up and coming managers in their setup a go.
I could understand if he was there in a mentoring capacity like the Belgian guy before Kisnorbo was but I just don’t see him working that way. If I owned a club I wouldn’t want him mentoring my coaches.

They’re still bringing Dario through.

Yeah Dario is doing what Kisnorbo did, taking the reigns of the women’s team for a while. He’ll probably be the next in line, but he may get the tap on the shoulder a bit faster…

Surely a club with all of their resources can find someone better than Rado Vidosic to mentor Dario though.

Wasn’t he assistant to Kisnorbo?

Oiler of biceps.

He was but that still doesn’t necessarily justify him getting the job full-time.
I could understand if they gave it to him in an interim capacity but he is quite inexperienced when it comes to being a head coach/manager.

Well he initially did have it in an interim role. 4 weeks or so later they made it official. Seems like laziness really.

Guess they worked on the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” as they cruised to the league

He just came unstuck in the finals (arguably against us at Allianz and hilariously in the GF)

I don’t rate Rado much as a coach. He hasn’t really changed a great deal from Kisnorbo’s methods, but we certainly saw a drop-off in the consistency and the overall domination of their performances.

Will be interesting to see how the City board react to a 6-1 drubbing in the Grand Final. City just utterly collapsed in the second half. There’s losing the biggest game of the season, and then there’s been completely and utterly embarrassed. I don’t know if the City board are ruthless enough to axe him for it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve provided a stern dressing down to him.

I don’t think Rado is good enough to rebuild the players he’s going to lose in the off-season, even with their scouting network.

Don’t think he’s up to it overall either. But tbf they were on the verge before Nabbout’s brain snap and you could easily see them going on with it if they’d equalised.

Wouldn’t have written them off at 3-1 either, but that was immediately followed by Talbot being incredibly unlucky which really killed it off.

Gees. Im no Rado fan, but he won the league easily.

Yes, can argue its the strongest squad by far and he inherited it, not built it. But end of the day he gets a trophy. Next years Melbourne may end up like Corica’s second year, a bit of decline but still succesful on the back of some changing faces in the squad. Or he might romp it even harder on the back of McClaren, O’Neil or the other high quality aussies who arent leaving, and with a couple of decent marquees that city does as well as any club in picking these days.

Unlike Corica we’ve seen him have some unflattering years as well at other clubs to judge by, but never with the CFG resources. City will likely still go into next seasons as favourites

One thing that has really been laid bare, and whilst I hate the phrase ‘flat-track Bully’, is how much of a small-time player Jamie McClaren is. Yes, he’s now the record goal scorer in the A-League and has scored some wonderful goals for City and the other clubs he’s represented, but take him out of his comfort zone, or provide a bit of pressure and he goes missing quicker than Scott Morrison in a crisis.

Regular season when there’s limited to no pressure on him he thrives and knocks them in for fun, but he’s gone missing in these finals, goes missing at International Level, and we’ve seen he’s not been that great overseas.
