Japan beating Israel 1-0 in the last group stage game and thus eliminating Israel is a nice thing to see to finish up another Olympic day.
If only to give a hearty fuck you to that old geezer who annoyed the Brazilian fan so much he went from “Israel are playing ok, not bad” to “Free free Palestine!” within 30 seconds.
I also notice, in the spirit of the insane sporting narrative that is the continued feud between France and Argentina, these two countries meet in the QF of the men’s football. Spicy!

These hockey players are brutal.
Penalty corner to the US and one of the Australian defenders copped a ball to the body at considerable speed, got up after a few moments, took the defensive gear off and kept running.
One of the Men’s players chose to have a finger amputated so he would be able to play in Paris. They really are not mucking around.
Particularly seeing he’d got the partially severed injury that left him with the decision from a warm up game

They’re phenomenal, but nothing beats mens vert skateboarding.
That bmx final was epic. I enjoy watching skating much more than bmx but I appreciate the bmx so much more. You can bail a skateboard a lot easier than a bike. The slams in bmx are gnarly. Tough athletes.
Many less Aussie golds in the pool than I was expecting this morning.
Its common in BMX freestyle to not run brakes, which was partly influenced by skateboarding as it means for greater ‘flow’
Good that both skateboarding and bmx are getting exposure but i thought the quality from each was pretty ordinary
I thought the mens BMX was outstanding but the skateboarding was pretty average
