Only watched a bit of the women’s before getting a few hours shuteye pre-Matildas. Laughed way harder than I should have when the first Chinese bird stacked it… without knowing anything about it she visibly ripped her first 56 seconds harder than anyone else, looked like she was going to be the clear front runner, but 4 seconds to go she pulled a backflip and did NOT land it. Ouch.

That slam was hardcore. She absolutely ate the concrete after hooking up on the top of the tranny. If you didn’t watch on, in her second run, she touched the ground eqrly on but instead of ending her run, she attempted the same trick she slammed on and nailed it. Completely unnecessary and showed balls of steel.
I know a guy who is mates with a lot of BMX cyclists here and he says as soon as there was even a hint that freestyle was going to be given an Olympic spot, the brown nosing and shoulder rubbing started.
It’s a lot of who is mates with who, rather than a fully professional sports business at the moment. The dude I know says this kind of free and unclear way of picking riders won’t last much longer, and he can see China pumping a lot of money into it and dominating in years to come.
Skateboard might be similar, I’m not sure the qualifying methods.
Really? We don’t have parks with transitions or boxes anywhere near that size anywhere near sydney that im aware of. Even the big ACT parks built in the 90s would look small compared to the Olympic park

I’m familiar with meadow bank but the ramps and transitions are nowhere near the size of the ones in Paris. I think the local vouncils would have a few law suits if they built ramps that high
