An ambitious outdoor festival of an Opening Ceremony and athlete’s parade all along the river Seine, and it’s raining solidly. Feel a bit sorry for all involved, I hope it blows through and doesn’t settle in for the day.

EDIT: As the sun has gone down and the city lights up, it looks fantastic. Some great visuals coming through now. The weather has not spoiled the party.

People love to complain, and also will shit on anything that is different. This ceremony has absolutely been something different, but I have enjoyed it. The performances have been (mostly) great and a good mix of styles and genres all along the river.

Maybe it lost something due to not having the immediacy of a roaring crowd responding to the performances or the athlete entrances, but it’s been a good vibe and excellent visuals since sunset. Now with all the lasers and lights, it is fantastic.

Yeah, only issue with that is anyone under the age of 10 would have no idea who the fuck they are.

I didn’t mind the minions, was a good light hearted element. The mechanical horse went on for fucking forever though - not sure we needed 15-20minutes of that. Disco fashion show was pretty cool with a brilliant playlist, hopefully someone creates it on spotify - some absolute passengers in that particular segment though !

If they don’t know who Asterix and Obelix are than their parents are terrible people who should be very strongly looked into by what ever DOCS calls it self this week.

Yeah the metal band was an absolute highlight.

Absolutely bonkers stuff for a opening ceremony. I liked the parade down the Seine. That must have been an absolute logistical nightmare to organise though.
