2006 then - which means just gone 17 years. My back of a napkin brain fog math was basically spot on.

Got tickets to Pearl Jam at Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Band I’ve been meaning to go to see for a while!
Also not keen on stadium shows but Tottenham stadium has decent acoustics, so we’ll see.
Shonen Knife at Crowbar was a great night of rock music happiness. They’ve been rocking around the world since 1981, and Naoko (in the orange) has been in the group the entire time.
It’s always a joyful night when Shonen Knife come back to town, it had been over 4 years since their last visit.
Mogwai tonight at the Enmore, fuck yeah
I have a rash of gigs coming up
Pop Will Eat Itself/Jesus Jones on the 1st
Teenage Fanclub (with a backstage pass) on the 8th
From The Jam on the 10th
I rarely go to more than 2 a year, 3 in 8 days is mental for me.
I had no dea Teenage Fanclub were touring. Everything Flows is one of my all time fav songs.
Contemplating going to The National/Fleet Foxes in Friday.
But also not, because that doesn’t sound like an exciting concert really? Also the tickets are dear…
I went to school with Norman Blake, we’ve been mates for more than 50 years
Probably won’t be the most exciting, especially all seated. Keen to see them though, Friday would be the pick of the days too especially given Mardi Gras is the Saturday (and our game obvs).
I remember when Bandwagonesque came out. I had a copy on cassette tape in my walkman which might explain how old I am. I was in maths class and my walkman was in my backpack. For some reason It got switched on accidentally. Even though the headphones were plugged in you could still just hear the music. I remember the teacher asking who was playing music but at first I didn’t realise it was me for some reason. Was a bit embarrassing for a shy nerd like me to eventually fess up. Strange the things you remember sometimes / boring story
It was an aural assault and it was amazing. At one stage I closed my eyes, looked up towards the ceiling and just let the wall of sound wash over me.
Thank God for earplugs and common sense to stand a healthy distance from the stage.
Per the Matildas thread:
If you’re going make sure you see Party Dozen.
Loved it. Transcendent experience.
I was seated up top three rows back. At one point my seat was shaking like a plane in turbulence. My chest was rattling. I laughed at the noise, and couldn’t hear or feel myself laughing. Thank God I had earplugs!
Damn that sounds good. (I’m imagining Mogwai fear Satan in my head as I read this)
Totally different vibe, but as a huge fan of Tool I’ve had similar experiences at their gigs.
Just a physical onslaught that is felt way more than heard. Once its over, it feels like you’ve just finished a workout.
Fuck I love live music.
The first time I saw Swans …
Not so loud, but The Necks live was like that for me
Jesus and Mary Chain at the Opera House…
