It's OK to be White and other dogwhistles - the Australian politics thread

We would live in Kirribilli. We love Sydney, we love the harbour, it’s a great city, and so yes. You’ve got the choice between Kirribilli or living in Canberra. I think I’ll take Sydney any day over living in Canberra.

Did not one of Dutton’s people tell him that this is probably not the best answer to give during an election campaign during a cost of living crisis?

As a Sydneysider it just seems obvious to me? Who would live in Canberra over Sydney?

Completely agree with what he is saying but I don’t see any benefit to him saying it.

Population -
Canberra - 456,844
Sydney - 5,297,000

Make 5m people proud and happy at the risk of maybe alienating 400K Canberrans

Great, now 5M people can take up the challenge to keep that cunt out of our great republic. :+1:

Especially when he’s campaigning on forcing all civil servants back to the office 5 days a week. Rules for thee but not for me.

Typical tin-ear Dutton

For some reason, he’s declared war on Canberra with his plans to sack all these public servants. David Pocock reckons it’ll bankrupt the ACT and it’s hard to disagree.

Yup. That’ll be the ACTU’s ad made for them.

Just “Peter Dutton wants to work from home” with a big picture of Kirribilli House.

My favourite line has been them talking about sacking heaps of workers from DVA that Labor hired to catch up the massive backlog of claims.

They’ve caught up so why keep them?
Oh I don’t know, so that everyone’s claim get done quickly from now on?
This is is real fuck you from the LNP especially as someone desperately waiting for DVA claims.

Surely they just get re-hired as contractors - costing far more but showing that a box has been ticked?

Not sure what their targeting is like but I am getting a barrage of Liberal & Advance on my phone (in game ads). As annoying as it is I take solace in wasting their money.

Not for at least a budget or two so they can show a “savings” before getting one of the big four in at an inflated price to fix the “terrible job these public servants are doing”.

Dutton is poorly advised if he thinks that this Trump/Elon bullshit is going to work in Australia. What a fucking idiot.

Also whilst Albo having a go at the Coles/Woolies dupoly may be good politics in reality the recent ACCC report showed that fuck all can be done about it.

PwC will relocate those jobs out of their Canberra offices quick enough.

Nationalise the supermarkets, comrade!

Nah, the only ads I’ve seen are Teals who have ads up on Foxtel Go for some reason.

Albanese knows nothing can be done about it but he looks like he’s on our side. Politics 101.
