It’s a multidimensional game too. Labor wants a reliable flow of Greens preferences in House contests (for example), and without it they would never be in with a shout at governing. What the Greens really want is to ensure Labor voters’ Senate preferences flow to them, because if the Greens are in the fight for one of the last spots against a right wing candidate they want a reliable preference flow from Labor voters.
The same dynamic plays out on the right, but it’s so fractured that it’s somewhat self defeating - voters aren’t 100% disciplined so you get more One Nation and Palmer preferences leaking to the left than Greens preferences leaking right. So the Coalition need a strong primary vote and because that’s ebbing away this time they’re trying to strengthen the flow from One Nation voters.
Journos need to call Dutton and his mob liars every time they describe a tax cut as “spending”. Just repeatedly. Lies need to be fucking called out. Tired of this shit.

- the great ABC article in the post above points out that our elections are getting more and more triangular
- there’s a lot of politically illiterate people who will follow the instructions of a HTV to the letter, and this has resulted in some crazy outcomes in the past. Based on the current rules, if you don’t show that kind of voter how you want them to number every box, they might cast an invalid vote
I’m just glad they’re doing billboards and not mailouts. Fuck delivering 3 or 4000 of their leaflets.
