It's OK to be White and other dogwhistles - the Australian politics thread

The Liberals lost last election because they had huge numbers of votes taken away from them by the moderately conservative Teals… They responded by claiming they weren’t conservative enough and shifted their political base further to the right… Yes, yes they can be THAT incompetent.

Perhaps he’s trying to copy the Canadian conservatives

And on top of that, Dutton seems intent on acting like my uncle after 12 pints and saying whatever he wants with no thought to the consequence!

Even though Dutton literally flagged a long-term reorientation of the Libs politics away from the seats that have gone teal and towards the rural and regional middle class?

I don’t think he’s throwing the election, so much as pursuing a long term strategy of shifting the conversation/ Overton window rightward like the US Teaparty did for years leading up to 2016.

Barnaby Joyce?

Have a look at this shit. Finger on the pulse of society as usual from Albo!

I don’t particularly trust Joe Exotic, but you know.

Well, Angus Taylor is probably the next in line …

And has been very (deliberately) quiet throughout this campaign…

Almost like he wants Dutton to get thumped so he can have the keys to the castle

Probably Angus vs Hastie.

Meanwhile the Libs have used crappy AI to redo the “I have the high ground Anakin” from SWIII on TikTok. “Only the Labor party deals in lies” is the lyingest lie that ever lied.

Dutton seriously said today that the Greens were an “anti-semitic Jew hating party”.

The “Muslim Vote” campaign in places like Parramatta that are aiming to unseat Labor candidates who have not been outspoken enough about Gaza seems like not a very well thought out plan.

Punish Labor for their inaction on Gaza by helping to elect a party that is publicly pro-Israel, galaxy brain stuff.

How are they helping to elect a pro-Israel party? Are they suggesting anyone vote Lib, or are they asking people to vote independent, Green and Australia’s Voice?

Here’s how they want me to vote from their website HTV maker: Greens 1, Citizens 2, Labor 3.

Huh. Wild.

My brother who is a rusted on Lib won’t be voting for a Dutton led party. He works at a senior level in health and at the time said Dutton was the worst health minister he ever dealt with. Said he was absolutely thick as two bricks and understood nothing about the health system in Australia.

Citizens Party at 2 is a choice, to be sure.

It’s also pretty damning that I am likely to put the koala killer apologists Animal Justice Party at 3. I wish there was an option like Jubal described. I’d be lucky to get to 2 if such an option existed.
