It's still nil all boys! - The Park Football Thread

At our club we have a coach the coaches set up where the more experienced/badged coaches support the newbies and run sessions for coaches on building a training session etc.

If not, lots of whisky.

I should let sfcu pick the tactics and team each week.

Stream the games love on YouTube. Have people vote on subs.

What standard of play is there for this division? I dare say that’s going to be a fair driver of what needs to be trained.

Hopefully your club has something like what Utility mentioned. That would be a big help.

This will be especially handy after you’ve given up hours a week, every week, running every training session and attending every match. And then you receive the absolute joy of some muppet parent who’s been watching 5-10 minutes of their first ever game and feels the need to tell you what they’d do differently. :tumbler_glass:

As much as I hate the curriculum it is probably a good start. It has some good basic information and lots of great drills and pointers that are age specific. It will focus you to work on football problems and coaching tips to overcome them.

This is my favourite half time talk. If that doesn’t fire the kids up, nothing will.

And you can bring yer fucken dinner.

After first donning boots as a 5yo, this will be my first year not registering as a player. Streak ends at 29 consecutive years. Will probably get a run as a fill in at some point but gees, its a hit to the soul.

I had ankle surgery last year so this is the first I haven’t laced up the boots in 40 years (I had a number of years as coach but was always on the bench in reserve grade to ensure the streak was alive).

Now have to immerse myself in my kids football to get my fix

I find it harder and harder to get motivated to play given that it is almost an entire days commitment up here due to all of the travel.

My mate is coaching a Championship side and they may be in need of a GK but if they’re not then I’m investing in a set of golf clubs instead.

Had my debut as coach today for Ms 6’s football team. We came second, but everyone was smiling at the end.

First trial game tomorrow and I have two - one for my 45s and one for the fathers/sons all age team we are starting this season. When season starts 45s will be Saturdays and All Age Sundays. Really looking forward to Sundays.

This will be my 48th consecutive season of football.

Two trial games yesterday - one for AA at 10:30am and one for 45s at 3pm. All in the heat and humidity of yesterday. A two hour drive this morning for work and I was struggling to get out of the car. Brutal on a fifty year old body.

Anyone with any Grip sock recommendations?

They may very well be a fad, but my feet are ruined.

God yeah playing in the heat yesterday was brutal. By the time our 10am game finished it was high 20s and it was on astroturf so felt significantly hotter. I can’t imagine backing up in that for a second game.

That’s crazy! I don’t miss having to drive to hours each way like we had to for Newcastle uni soccer back in the day.

Those were the days I played three games in a day during school holidays, as everyone went back home, then go straight to a six hour bar shift that night.
