This has been addressed, I got the offer email at 5:35pm today and had the resignation in her inbox by 5:50pm
On Monday I’ll communicate to the people and projects I work with, then sit back and listen to the sound of excrement intersecting with the rotating air perambulation device.
Didn’t realise I should be putting it on my resume
Not normally, but being able to articulate your personal style at interview can be really useful if the employer or manager has a clear cultural philosophy, it emphasises ‘fit’ to the new org.
Reality is that good managers use the right techniques for each individual, some people need a clear framework, others need to be let off the leash, and everyone needs someone they can vent to without judgement.
If the next job is a certainty… you could just resign the moment before a conflict arises and have a refresh before the next job.
Soo, any advice for how an introvert deals with a bi-polar colleague on a week long manic streak?
It’s fucking Saturday night and I’m still drained here.
Haven’t had to myself, but you have to set your boundaries and save strength and make sure you have space for yourself as you’re no good to anyone if you get burnt out from this yourself.
Not the type of person you can set boundaries with. They harassed someone all day on Thursday and when they finally got push back …
Well, someone went no filter on them today and they couldn’t get into the only manager on sites office quick enough!
Not sure if this should go in venting thread or in here but as it is solely work related, figured it’d go in here.
Background:
Work as a sales director for midsize software company… was running APJ for a small team (6). I’ve been with the company a decade and in the role about 5 years. Have hit quota 8 times in 10 years.
We acquired a similar sized company about four years ago and it was decided that their APJ VP would take over and I’d run south Asia, with a bigger team and larger quota but now two steps away from the CRO in the states.
We then acquired another company earlier this year and I have found out that, while my quota and team size is growing next year, I will be moved to ANZ only (which will carry 75% of the regional quota)… anyway, the issue I have is that I fucking hate my boss.
I don’t know if it is a cultural thing but he is very blunt, is incredibly domineering and micro manages the shit out of everyone and everything. He is tolerated on a corporate level cause APJ always delivers on its number - mainly due to the efforts of my team.
So, I have finally returned the call of a recruiter and am going in for a chat tomorrow - honestly I am not sure if I am just flirting in a bar cause my marriage is stale but with no intention of cheating or am I really looking to leave my wife?
All the reasons you typed are why you are doing this and are completely valid reasons to be looking elsewhere. You’re clearly not valued so go somewhere that does. Good luck with the search.
I stayed in my last job about 2 years too long.
I broke a rule that I have for myself; As soon as I start questioning if I should be there, it’s time.
People don’t leave bad jobs, they leave bad bosses
Your wife is lovely, sober up and don’t be a dickhead.
As for the job stuff, good luck with the recruiter.
I’ve been offered the role I interviewed for, but I’m a bit annoyed that the offer is less than I told the recruiter from the start my absolute minimum was. It’s not much less, but still has annoyed me a bit as she either wasn’t being honest from the start or the hiring company wasn’t.
But it’s basically only a guaranteed £1k payrise than what I’m on now (base salary is a decent increase, but I am on a very easy commission structure currently), with an ok yearly bonus on top. Waiting to hear details on the bonus and how easily it can be reached. I’ve been in this company 8.5 years now, so it’s quite a big call to move on for such a small pay rise. Chance of progression is basically zero in my current role though, whereas I’d be joining a company which is rapidly expanding.
Curious, what do people consider a good bonus, in % terms
Ive been made aware by higher ups that someone in my team will have to be let go due to financial reasons. Ive been instructed (strongly?) not to say anything until the paperwork is in order, but knowing that could take a while is it fair/right of me to give this person a heads up so they can start looking for new roles? There are a few jobs being advertised that i know would be of interest to them but the cutoff for each is after the long weekend?
I would watch out as it could bite you in the arse. Wouldnt look good for yourself if it got out that you let the cat out of the bag. Im assuming he’s getting redundancy? Would affect their ability to look for work etc if they’re dealing with an unknown end date together with the payout
Bonuses are all over the place, it depends on the industry, the company and the role.
The more senior you are and the more involved in the company outcomes you are the bigger your bonus should be. For non-C-suite it usually ranges from 10-35%, some industries like banking can go higher and executive bonuses can be as much as 50% in some places.
I’m currently on 15%, which can be boosted by exceptional performance to 21.5%, but it’s mostly tied to overall business performance which I have no real influence on, so if the sales guys do shit, we get nothing.
It feels like some companies use bonuses as a way to cut costs when they’re doing badly.
Sometimes I dream of being the most incompetent person in my workplace …
