Macarthur FC Thread

So does that mean Uffy is free to come to us?

Official Dwight is announced as manager

As said above I am excited to see him back in the A-League in some capacity. Best of luck to him and hope he can bring some excitement to Macarthur. If they start doing right by fans interest in South West Sydney could really lift.

Even if he was, do we really want him? His management seems a bit more hard-nosed than Corica, but otherwise he sets his teams out the same way tactically. I just don’t see us making sufficient improvements overall.

Let’s see how he goes. If he seems to do well, we can just steal him from those losers.

I personally don’t want him. Another ex-player that’s not all that interesting. Wouldn’t want Aloisi or Talay. We need something fresh (if we don’t stick with Corica).

Dwight to Macarthur is just bizarre, laziest “world-wide search” ever if it only includes who was already coming to town for a piss-up anyways.

Should be entertaining, obviously polar opposite personality to Milicic, but you’d think there will be quite a few local coaches who’ve actually earned a crack just shaking their head.

I feel like he was in the country, ran into the owners out a a nightclub and they signed him at 4am after a few rounds.

He’s been offered to a number of clubs, has been keen to do a managers stint in Australia, the All-Stars thing was an intentional vehicle for an AL gig.

Yeah, who would want a manager who has rebuilt a side twice in 2 years, brought through the youth and reached the finals this year while having to play 90%+ games not only away from home but in another country.

Who would want a manager that made 3 grand finals in a row and won 2 of them? Ostensibly not a lot of people on here.

I get the angle of Dwight and his people whoring him around, just surprised anyone took the bait. It’s very Fowler-esque.

The Wanderers?
They seem happy to live on past glories.

I’m surprised and not surprised by the all night Dwight picking up a contract here. I’m kinda glad it wasn’t us because it has all the hallmarks of a tremdous failure.

The moment I knew he’d picked up the All Stars job, I had an inkling he was looking for a gig at an A-league club.

It’s a gamble certainly, and a gamble by a club that could see it all come tumbling down in a gigantic heap if it doesn’t work out. It’s going to be interesting as this is his first coaching/managerial gig. He’s been doing punditry in the UK since he retired, so I think he sees this as a safer option rather than playing around in the English lower leagues.

Robbie Fowlers foreign signings weren’t anything special. It’ll be interesting to see who comes under Dwight.

They weren’t, but overall they did alright out of it. The only foreign signing that didn’t do anything good was Amadi-Holloway.

They were solid no-name squaddies, but I think a few people were expecting a slightly known name, rather than a bunch of League 1 & 2 randoms.

Granted, The Bakries probably gave him no budget to do so.

I had thought the same, but to be honest, I wasn’t expecting it to happen so quickly; maybe closer to the season starting.

Trying to find if he has any actual experience I found this:

This is not encouraging.

Pretty sure he had stint in charge of the Trinidad & Tobago national team around the time he retired.

Is that an actual quote though???

Yeah, wiki vandalism strikes again with credulous idiots like me
