Malaysia, Bust or Busted? - The A-League where are they now thread

Tomer Hemed rumoured to be going to Brighton as a coach (though not confirmed if first team or reserves etc)

Never played A-League, but South Sudanese Ajak Riak who played for Bentleigh Greens against us in the Australia Cup a few years back (had a stint with South Melbourne & most recently in Indonesia) has just signed for Moldovan club Sherrif Tirspol.

Sherrif is that weird dodgy Moldovan club that’s basically owns all of the breakaway state of Transnistria, and is run basically by the Mafia.

Anan Ouahim, our new Moroccan-German signing, just spend last season on loan there as well.

I love reading about that club. It sounds like something out of a Jack reacher book.

Apparently golec has history there too

Dario Vidosic appointed head coach of Brighton womens https://aleagues.com.au/news/who-is-dario-vidosic-new-brighton-coach-wsl-a-league-news-latest-details-melbourne-city-playing-style-tactics-video/

Probably needed a new agent… one that does some research!

I Never disliked Golec.

Thats a rough break for him. His age t sounds like he just said yes to anything without double checking it first.

Elvis Kamsoba had a year in Iran (we sold him there…). I wonder if he had any negative experiences. Kamsoba was actually in the same squad in Indonesia as Riak. I think he’s still there.

Shae Cahill has signed on for the Nottingham Forest B Team.

Sure, but I don’t think he’s complaining now he’s a real estate agent.

Pretty sweet assist from Cacace:

Heard this on the Round Ball Australia podcast last night.

So the new Asian Champions Challange League (for those new to the redeveloped Asian Champions League, this is kinda like The UEFA Conference Leagues - except for all the really shit third world Asian nations) is kicking off, and apparently there’s a play off between Nepalese club Church Boys United and Bhutanese club Paro FC.

Anyway, Paro FC, in an attempt to boost their profile have signed former CSKA Moscow, and AC Milan, and once Australia’s Shame Laybody (I think I just made that word up - whatever), Keisuke Honda on a 1-game deal to play in the playoff.

Well, it must have worked because Paro went on to win 2-1 and qualify for the tournament proper. Whether Paro negotiate a deal with him to continue playing in the Bhutanese Premier League remains to be seen.

But interesting none the less.

Sort of goes against the ethos of the competition. The AFC are probably ok with it though

Pretty sure they had a bedsheet tifo with that on it once.

Hardly. Whilst I’m not 100% around the competition rules, I’m fairly sure there’s nothing in the rulebook that prevents clubs from signing players to improve their squad (so long as they don’t go over the foreign player cap),

I mean, it’s practised just about in every league…it’s kinda the point.

It’d be a hard one to police. Agree with testament though, it’s pretty bullshit if you pay someone a few hundred thousand to play a single game to guarantee a position. It wouldn’t be to hard to combat though, just need to have players registered for minimum periods of time. Honda should have had to prove his contract was for say, 6 weeks or something with a requirement to play a minimum number of matches, otherwise they lose their spot.

We once signed David Williams and Andrew Durante - one of which I think was still contracted elsewhere for our Champions League campaign - this is just similar I guess.
