And while stupid of 7 to repeat the name (given he clearly wasn’t 40yo as mentioned by police) the actual attacker was named the next morning, so can’t imagine you can claim much in the way of damage…

Disagree. Even if was only for a few hours, having your face spread internationally around the world on television, and the internet and being labelled as a terrorist would leave you with some mental trauma.
I’m sure at some point someone will recognize him and be like “Oh, you were a suspect in the Bondi stabbings”.
Whilst it may not go to court, I wouldn’t be surprised if he does sue them, that 7 will look to settle out of court very, very quickly. As Davee said, a couple hundred G’s at the least.
I thought this must be the case, I had abc news on when they announced her name and they pointedly said that they wouldn’t be publishing her picture at the request of the family, then later that day and the next I saw her picture on another channel and in papers. Did seem like someone had dropped the ball badly there
