We have been without a television the last few days so have been streaming Tubi on our my laptop.
Some weird arse old movie but still entertaining. Watched this movie with Sean Connery playing an Arab diplomat, but still in a Scottish accent:

Heretic (2024) “Horror” is too broad of a category really. needs “f**d up” subcategory.
I really enjoyed it, it got a bit silly in the end but the build-up was excellent
If you like old movies, try this one.
Love me some courtroom dramas and this one is a classic. The Verdict with Paul Newman is also great.
This late career Hugh Grant revival where he just plays big over the top slightly camp characters is so much fun. I really enjoyed Heretic.
Just watched Mickey 17.
No idea what to make of it, I can’t even give it a rating.
A highbrow Idiocracy maybe?
My overly sensitive divining rod daughter #2 likes to torture herself with horror movies. So we watched this and of course the " DONT GO DOWN TO THE BASEMENT ARE YOU BOTH STUPID ! " was shouted at the screen several times.
The Brutalist was interesting. Neatly wrapped up how much of a control freak he was regarding the design with the last scene. Pearce really stole the show.
I haven’t seen Mickey 17 yet but given it was directed by Bong Joon-ho who made Parasite and Snowpiercer I would say that it was the broad intention.
Yeh the vibe I got from everyone in the theatre was “wtf did I just watch?”.
Really well done, but very weird.
Just on Bong Joon Ho, if you enjoy his movies and haven’t seen Memories of Murder, then you really need to watch it. Arguably his second best film after Parasite and with a really great Song Kang-Ho performance.
I’m super keen to get to Mickey 17
He’s an amazing actor Robert Pattinson. I liked that he did those tween movies & became bankable so then he can do whatever the hell he wants now. The Rover is another wild movie that he’s in with Guy Pearce.
Dont post in this thread often. But I watched a movie over the weekend that generally made me angry at how bad it was. I went full old man and criticized the movie at 5 minute intervals, wondering why the kids of today loved it. Fortunately the misses was in full agreement and also joined in the criticism.
The movie in question, Nosferatu. Absolute contrived garbage.
I watched Jupiter Ascending last weekend, exact same reaction. My wife actually told me to go and play computer games as for some reason. she was enjoying it. Holy shit it was a bad movie
Saw Goodfellas for the first time ever. Ray Liotta & Joe Pesci are perfect to play mafioso’s. De Niro as the Irish mobster is a litle confusing… Its starts off with the justification for the mafia, that is they provide a form of law enforcement in areas that the police cant be bothered going to ie poorer areas which is kind of understandabl. The characters have charisma & the movie starts entertaining but then the film predictably descends into a story of paranoia & “whacking” of each other in horrific ways. Fin.
It’s the best movie ever, keep in mind that it pre-dates most other mafia movies and TV shows that made that storyline predictable.
Plus the cinematography and music are fantastic.
Now watch Casino for an awesome mob movie double act (Goodfellas just pips it).
What did I miss in this movie? It was fine, but not to the level of the hype for me.
