Movie Thread VII: Adrian's Revenge

Dead Reckoning was dead awful, easily the worst of the series…yes it’s worse than IM2.

So, F1 The Movie (coming later this month to Apple TV+)…

As a life-long F1 fan & follower, of course I’m expecting them to completely butcher this, and for me to spend the entire movie fuming at the “artistic licence” an American production applies to a historically European-centric sport.

However, I will concede that the “haptic trailer” for it in the Apple TV app (presumably iPhone only?) is a bit of fun. The haptics are way overdone, but still fun.

Just watch Fast and Furious, surely?

As long as they don’t go down the Drive to Survive route. Finding it very frustrating how the last few seasons have dissolved into more focus on the drama, than the actual racing.

Same director as Top Gun 2 and the trailer looks like its the same movie, but on whes.

Im personally fine with it as Top Gun 2 was one of the most fun cinema expriences ive had in the last 10 years

hmmmm, dont know.

why, just why do they need to resurrect old classics and just absolutely ruin them??? Let the classics be classics and just come up with a new fucknig idea

Never have and never will watch the Blues Brothers sequel.

It better be called the search for more money

Edit: the trailer does have an interesting point

If Mel’s writing it, there’s at least a chance it’s good.

I’m all in for another spin of Spaceballs. It’s Mel and co doing another run, it’ll be in the right spirit.

It’s also a significantly older Mel though. Is there any talk about who will control the artistic direction etc? I hate being a cynic, but I can just see some Hollywood exec forcing in a whole bunch of tits and dick jokes to sell to a new audience. Need to remember that the original Spaceballs was filmed to a very different audience.

28 years later was terribly disappointing. I’d obviously a story builder for the next two movies, but still very poor. Very little point, and it seemed like the only reason was to show giant monster cocks on screen.

6/10

Yeah gotta say, I was wrong on my previous comments. It’s definitely a movie worth watching. Very much edge of your seat type of stuff, was watching with the wife and both of us just couldn’t stop, despite it being very late and a school night.

Thats a nice fit if it lasts. Ive read some pretty gross things about what Amazon want to do with the franchise… basically carve it up and whore it out into a heap of spinoffs

Isn’t that the modern way? Have a classic strong brand, dilute the content with an overload of spinoffs by various writers/writing crews and lawyers and ton load of other types.

Rather than a single creator who comes up with the unique concept and has the sole right for what’s canon.

That’s why books are good.

In fairness, wasn’t that essentially the basis of the original Star Wars Universe? A whole bunch of writers forming almost a loose collective and progressing the storyline further down the track. It worked pretty freaking awesomely, apart from a few exceptions.

I dare say the difference here is it’s more driven by executives that aren’t massive Star Wars nerds

Apart from 90% of the time, the SW expanded universe is chock-full of utter shite and even the main canon has suffered huge inconsistency (Look at Andor, then look at The Acolyte, how can they be the same setting?)

Do you mean Legends? I remember thoroughly enjoying most of the books as well as just the expanded storylines. The only one I really hated was I Jedi from memory. There was one book that for some reason decided that each capital ship had a major weakpoint that could be destroyed with a few shots
