Movie Thread VII: Adrian's Revenge

I’m with Coppola and Scorsese on this shit. But I’m just a grumpy old git.

Hey is Gemini Man worth seeing at the movies or wait until it comes out on DVD now?

Allegedly an absolute stinker, with one excpetional action scene. Its shot using some ridiculous new frame rate technology so dunno if that makes a difference if youre viewing at home.
As an aside, is there an actor whose career has declined as much as Will Smith?

Samuel L. I swear that man has never said “no” to a role.

Samual L Jackson being cast in a movie is sadly an indication that you don’t need to watch that movie.

BUT atleast Samuel L has had some financial success with a big part in the MCU, as well as roles in some Tarantino films.
John Travolta has to be in the mix as his stuff all seems to be direct to video.
What was the last good Will Smith movie. ‘I Am Legend’ maybe? That has to be atleast 10 years ago?

Taika Waititi is in pre-production for a dramatic adaptation of the 2014 documentary “Next Goal Wins”. The bar has been set very high in the category of “Best Football Movie Ever” but this picture may knock “Goal! II; Living the Dream” off it’s perch.

I don’t know how you do it to yourself dude (spoilers).

Anyway, unless they complete fuck this one up, this will end up being the best trilogy.
The Ringer Binge Mode guys are doing a good series on the Star Wars saga now, started last week.

The best trilogy?

of the three SW trilogies

Aren’t the three SW trilogies technically also a trilogy?

whoa

I dont think the prequel or sequel trilogy get even close to the original trilogy. But each to their own.

To be honest, I’m pretty jealous of people who enjoyed episode 8 and are excited for 9.

Yeah I’m mad for it. I was thoroughly cynical when Disney took over, but I think they’ve smashed it out of the park for the most part - the only film I didn’t love was Solo, which still isn’t terrible.
The video game nonsense isn’t great either but meh.

I love the Sequel trilogy and spin-offs, to be honest I like TFA more than ANH.

Rogue 1 was aces.

The first 3rd trilogy was ok. But I’ve the same complaints as most on the 2nd. I think it’s the only one I’ve only seen once.

The Irishman. What cinema should be. See it on the big screen before it’s sidles over to Netflix forever.

Just finished the Irishman, a slow burner, but fucking superb. I knew nothing of the story, but now I’m fascinated about the Hoffa mystery.

Do you think its better consumed in one hit? Or over a few sittings?

Truth and Movies podcast said for best enjoyment you should try for one sitting, and avoid distractions.
But that’s a hell of a stretch to set aside at once.
