Does it have to be on the coast?
We did Kingscliff a few years back and absolutely loved it. Granted we had children at the time, but there’s enough locally with nicer restaurants that rarely have kids or anything like that. There’s a few other nicer places within 30 minutes, plus can always go up to Coolangata or down to Byron if you want to. Plus a few nice beaches in between.
Highly recommended, we did the guesthouse for my mum’s 60th and we loved the whole hotel. Only thing I don’t like about the Hunter though, is the amount of driving. With a child, it can end up being hit and miss. They can either fall asleep at the worst moment, or just spit the dummy and lose it in the car.
Elements at Byron Bay? We went up there with some friends a couple of years ago… lovely resort - while there are some kids, there weren’t many and had things like an kid free pool with a swim up bar etc.
The Hydro Majestic in the Blue Mountains?
With how expensive life is, i honestly don’t know if I could afford to pitch a tent in the back garden and use the kiddy paddling pool.
$1,000 a night just seems unhinged.
If it has a pool I can park myself at I am okay with that. Was aiming for coast and north due to being a bit warmer, typically.
Have been looking at that, but the 1 bedder with a kitchen style units aren’t available. As much as I enjoy eating at restaurants sometimes it’s nice to chill and make your own stuff especially when you’re there for 10 days!
Preaching to the choir, don’t you worry!
Will suss it out, thanks!
Maybe Bells at Killcare.
Have you done Sardinia? If so how did they compare?
You need very deep pockets for Bells and it isn’t really a kid’s place.
For the record we’re not looking for a kids place. He’s young enough to just enjoy some lawns, nature and a pool and he loves car rides, pram walks and and backpack walks.
In another year (and for the subsequent 15) we’ll probably need kid friendly hotels but for now we’re trying to hang onto dragging him around to the stuff we like for as long as we can.
Nope, never done Sardinia
I imagine there’s some similarity though.
Corsica felt a lot closer to Italy than France though, particularly Bastia. Could definitely hear it in the language too. I reckon i could understand a good 70% of what was being said in Corsican (when it was spoken, which was rare)
It may be a little too kid friendly for what you’re looking for but Angourie Resort at Yamba is nice. Kids generally only become an issue during school holidays though.
As for the weather, high 20’s and low 30’s all next week.
We’ve stayed in Yamba previously (at the surf, which was nice but doesn’t have a kitchen on site). Keen to head back as it was just post Covid and a lot was still closed. Nice quiet spot!
The Sands at Yamba
We wanted to be near water so tried Armana but there was no availability. Booked The Anchorage instead.
Anyone been to the FIFA museum in Zurich? Any actual football history covered or is it more like a monument to the true heros of the game, the administrators…
I hear the cafeteria does a good seafood buffet.
